The Road Accident Fund is inviting unemployed graduates to apply for the Intern: Assurance & Monitoring Internship Programme 2026. This opportunity is aimed at young graduates between the ages of 18 and 25 who want workplace experience in internal auditing, governance, risk management, compliance, and assurance monitoring.
About the Road Accident Fund Internship Programme
The Road Accident Fund Internship Programme supports youth development by giving graduates practical work experience aligned with their qualifications and career interests.
The internship provides exposure to assurance and internal control processes within one of South Africa’s major public entities. Successful applicants will work with experienced professionals while gaining practical knowledge in governance, compliance, monitoring, and auditing environments.
The programme runs for 18 months and offers structured workplace learning and mentorship.
The mission of the Road Accident Fund is to provide financial relief and social support to people affected by motor vehicle accidents in South Africa.
Purpose of the Internship
The internship aims to:

Internship Duties and Responsibilities
Interns may assist with the following duties:
- Supporting internal control reviews
- Assisting with control self-assessment activities
- Monitoring corrective action plans
- Tracking implementation progress
- Reviewing assurance work in processing centres and regions
- Maintaining monthly Combined Assurance Dashboards
- Assisting with meeting administration and minutes
- Drafting agendas and sending meeting invitations
- Contributing to reports and submissions
- Responding to stakeholder requests and inquiries
The role provides exposure to governance and assurance systems used within the public sector.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must submit:
- Certified copy of Grade 12 or Matric certificate
- Certified copy of South African ID
- Certified academic transcript
- Updated CV
- Motivational letter
Applicants must also hold one of the following qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Internal Auditing
- Advanced Diploma in Internal Auditing
- Risk Management qualification
- Governance qualification
- Compliance qualification
- Auditing qualification

Who Can Apply?
Applicants must:
- Be unemployed
- Be between 18 and 25 years old
- Never have worked in the field of Internal Auditing, Governance, Compliance, Risk Management, or Auditing
- Never have participated in a related internship programme before
- Not have previously served as an intern

Monthly Stipend
Successful interns will receive a monthly stipend during the 18 month internship programme.
The advertised annual internship remuneration is R96,000.
