Zamfara CBT Teacher Recruitment: Over 2,400 Applicants’ BVN, NIN, and Personal Info Exposed!
The Zamfara State Government has published a list of shortlisted candidates for the CBT teacher recruitment exercise, but in doing so, they have exposed highly sensitive personal information including:
- BVN (Bank Verification Number)
- NIN (National Identification Number)
- Phone Numbers
- Date of Birth
This is not just an error — it is a gross violation of privacy and data protection laws in Nigeria.
This reckless act can lead to serious consequences for the victims like Identity theft, impersonation, Financial fraud, bank account breaches, SIM swap attacks, Harassment, scam calls, and more.
We are calling on the following authorities to ACT immediately, please.
1. Zamfara State Government – Take full responsibility for this breach.
2. Zamfara Information Technology Development Agency (ZITDA) If you exist as a regulatory IT body in the state, this is YOUR moment to show relevance.
3. Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC) This breach violates the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023. Immediate investigation.
We demands:
1. Immediate takedown of the exposed list from all platforms.
2. Official public apology to all affected individuals.
We cannot continue to treat people’s personal data like a joke in this country. This is 2025, not 2005.
