Zambian Delegation Explores International Collaboration for Student Support and Diaspora Loan Recovery London, United Kingdom – A high-level Zambian delegation, led by Mr. Geoffrey Samkonga, Chairman of the Higher Education Loans and Scholarships Board (HELSB), recently met with the Zambian mission in the UK to discuss strategic partnerships for student support and diaspora loan recovery.

The delegation, comprising Prof. Chisembu, Director General of the Higher Education Authority and Chairman of the Scholarships Committee, Dr. John Machayi, HELSB CEO, and Derrick Chisanga, Deputy Director of Credit and Scholarships, aimed to strengthen international collaboration and explore opportunities for Zambian students pursuing higher education.

Key issues discussed during the meeting included diaspora loan recovery and fundraising techniques for student support in Zambia. The delegation emphasized the importance of clear messaging, streamlined repayment processes, incentivizing repayment, diaspora engagement, data-driven approaches, and partnerships to enhance diaspora loan recovery.

The UK, renowned for its academic excellence and research opportunities, presents a significant potential for collaboration. With numerous research grants available, Zambian students can benefit from the UK’s rich educational landscape.

The Zambian mission in the UK, represented by Macenje Mazoka, Zambia’s High Commissioner to the UK, Deputy High Commissioner Ms. Lubu chibwe nxumalo, First Secretary Trade Ms. Yvonne Zulu, and First Secretary Press Mr. Speedwell Mupuchi, welcomed the delegation and reiterated their commitment to supporting Zambian students abroad.
