CALL FOR APPLICATIONS – UNIVERSITY OF MALAWI-UNIMA ENROLMENT INTO THE DIPLOMA IN LAW PROGRAMME 2025/2026

The School of Law, Economics and Government invites applications from eligible candidates for enrolment into the Diploma in Law Programme for the 2025/2026 academic year.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
• Possess an MSCE or its equivalent, with at least six credits, including English. Additionally, candidates must meet at least one of the following criteria:
• Have a minimum of one year of systematic legal training in an institution recognised by the National Council for Higher Education.
• Have at least two years of experience working in a department or organization that engages in legal work in any branch of the law.
• Hold a diploma with credit from the University of Malawi or an institution recognised by the National Council for Higher Education.
• Hold a degree from the University of Malawi or any university recognised by the National Council for Higher Education.

PROGRAMME STRUCTURE AND DURATION
1.The programme duration is 24 months.
2. It is non-residential, and students are responsible for arranging their own accommodation.
3. Teaching is delivered in eight-week direct contact blocks per semester, consisting of lectures, seminars, and tutorials. These blocks are followed by a two-week examination period.
4. Each teaching block and examination period is separated by a period of time that may be up to one-month or less, during which students are required to complete various assignments.

TUITION FEE
• The tuition fee for each student in this programme is MK1,520,000.00 per academic year
• Payment can be made in full at the beginning of the academic year or in two equal instalments with each instalment due before registration for the respective semester.

APPLICATION PROCEDURE
Interested individuals must complete an online application  or hand-deliver their application.
Applicants must submit the following documents either by uploading them or delivering them in person:
•A passport-sized photograph.
• Certified copies of academic certificates or results notifications, authenticated by a Commissioner for Oaths
• Proof of payment of a non-refundable processing fee of MK 30,000.00, deposited into the following bank account:

•A letter expressing interest in joining the programme
• Where applicable, an employment verification letter from the relevant authority, confirming the applicant’s work period.
For physical applications, candidates must deliver their complete application package to the secretary for the Law Departments, Mrs Joana Phiri.
