TSC Kenya Invites Applications for Deputy Director and Assistant Director Positions – Apply by 20 October 2025. The Teachers Service Commission (TSC), established under Article 237 of the Constitution of Kenya (2010), oversees the management of teachers in public schools across the country. The Commission is inviting applications from qualified and motivated Kenyan citizens to fill two senior positions in its Corporate Affairs and Facility Management divisions.

1. Deputy Director, Corporate Affairs

TSC Grade: 5
Vacancy: 1

Duties and Responsibilities

Duties and responsibilities at this level will entail:

(i) Overseeing exhibitions and events;

(ii) Ensuring implementation of recommendations from reports;

(iii) Overseeing the communication resource library;

(iv) Ensuring appropriate environment for effective customer care;

(v) Prioritizing critical issues from daily media briefings;

(vi) Ensuring up to date and interactive website and intranet;

(vii) Overseeing the management of social media channels;

(viii) Approving articles for publication, written speeches and press release;

(ix) Overseeing the development and implementation of media and
communication strategies;

(x) Overseeing the planning and coordination of corporate social investment
activities;

(xi) Coordinating protocol services for both internal and external events;

(xii) Overseeing implementation of Risk Management mitigation strategies;

(xiii) Overseeing the implementation of audit recommendation;

(xiv) Approving operational work plans;

(xv) Developing and monitoring proper utilization of the corporate
communication budgets;

(xvi) Establishing and maintaining good relations with the media;

(xvii) Coordinating the preparation of Commissions annual report;

(xviii) Coordinating surveys on communication and customer care trends; and

(xix) Supervising and guiding employees in the Division for optimum
performance.

Requirements for Appointment

For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:

(i) Served in the grade of Assistant Director, Corporate Affairs for a minimum period of three (3) years;

OR

Six (6) years’ experience in a comparable position;

(ii) Bachelor’s Degree in any of the following: Mass Communication, Communication Studies, Journalism, Public Relations, Education (Languages) or any other approved equivalent qualifications from a recognized institution;

(iii) Master’s Degree from a recognized institution is an added advantage;

(iv) Membership to a profession body in good standing where applicable;

(v) Certificate in Leadership Course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution;

(vi) Met the requirements of chapter six (6) of the constitution; and

(vii) Demonstrated merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.

Terms of Service and Remuneration

  • Basic Salary Scale: Kshs.192,782 – Kshs.288,051
  • House Allowance: Applicable rates
  • Commuter Allowance: Kshs.14,000
  • Leave Allowance: As provided in TSC Secretariat
  • Annual Leave: 30 working days per calendar year
  • Medical Cover: As provided in the TSC Secretariat Medical Scheme
  • Terms of Service: Five (5) years contract renewable once subject to satisfactory performance.

2. Assistant Director, Facility Management

TSC Grade: 6
Vacancy: 1

Duties and Responsibilities

Duties and responsibilities at this level will entail:
(i) Implementing and enforcing policies, procedures, strategies and works
plans for the division;

(ii) Ensuring compliance to all basic health and safety measures both
personnel and property within the work place;

(iii) Ensuring compliance with the statutory laws and regulations governing
environment;

(iv) Reviewing bills of quantity and drawings, proposal and RFPS for works
(building, renovations and repairs) and oversee implementation;

(v) Effective management of utilities and service providers;

(vi) Supervising service providers;

(vii) Leading the development of division work plan;

(viii) Administration of Leases;

(ix) Coordinating the preparation of the budget and annual procurement plan
for the division; and.

(x) Supervising and guiding employees for optimum performance.

Requirements for Appointment

For appointment to this grade, an officer must have:
(i) Served in the grade of principal officer- facility management- TSC grade 7
for a minimum period of three (3) years;

OR

Five (5) years’ experience in a comparable position;

(ii) Bachelor’s Degree in any of the following fields: Quantity Surveying,
Building and Construction, Land Economics or equivalent qualification from
a recognized institution;

(iii) Master’s degree from a recognized Institution is an added advantage;

(iv) Certificate in Senior Management Course or equivalent qualification lasting
not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution;

(v) Membership to a relevant professional body in good standing where
applicable;

(vi) A valid registration certificate from the relevant professional body;

(vii) Met the requirements of chapter six (6) of the constitution; and

(viii) Demonstrated merit and ability as reflected in work performance and
results.

Terms of Service and Remuneration

  • Basic Salary Scale: Kshs 137,460 – Kshs 167,098
  • House Allowance: Applicable rates
  • Commuter Allowance: Kshs 12,000
  • Leave Allowance: As provided in TSC Secretariat
  • Annual Leave: 30 working days per calendar year
  • Medical Cover: As provided in the TSC Secretariat Medical Scheme
