Tanzania University Admissions 2025/2026: Tanzania Commission for Universities (TCU) Opens Bachelors Degree Programme Application Window – Key Dates & Guidelines
The Tanzania Commission for Universities (TCU) wishes to inform the public, Higher Education Institutions, and all stakeholders in higher education within and outside the country that the application window for admission to First Degree programmes for the 2025/2026 academic year is now open starting today, 15/7/2025. This window will remain open until 10/8/2025.
ADMISSION APPLICATION PROCEDURES FOR THE 2025/2026 ACADEMIC YEAR
Categories of Admission Applicants
Applications for admission to First Degree programmes involve three categories of applicants:
a) Those with eligible qualifications from Advanced Level (Form Six);
b) Those with eligible qualifications from Diploma, or equivalent qualifications; and
c) Those with eligible qualifications from the Foundation Certificate of the Open University of Tanzania.
To understand the eligibility criteria for the three categories mentioned above, the approved institutions and programmes, applicants are advised to review the guidelines provided in the admission application guidebooks issued by TCU (Bachelor’s Degree Admission Guidebooks for the 2025/2026 Academic Year), available on the TCU website.
Procedure for Submitting Admission Applications
a) Applications must be submitted directly to the institutions chosen by the applicant, along with the preferred study programmes.
b) Specific instructions on how to submit applications are provided by the respective institutions.
Criteria and Qualifications for Admission Applicants
The criteria and qualifications for various study programmes are available on the websites of the respective institutions and in the admission application guidebooks provided on the TCU website.
Important Considerations for Applicants
a) Carefully read and understand the admission guidelines provided by TCU, along with the specific instructions from the institutions, before starting the application process.
b) Visit the websites of the institutions and contact them directly to understand the application procedures and obtain detailed information about study programmes to ensure satisfaction before submitting applications.
c) Submit applications directly to the institutions through the electronic systems provided by the respective institutions.
d) Tanzanian applicants with certificates issued by examination boards outside the country must submit their certificates to the National Examinations Council of Tanzania (NECTA) for Secondary Education certificates or the National Council for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (NACTVET) for Diploma certificates to obtain equivalency validation before submitting admission applications.
e) Non-Tanzanian applicants with certificates issued by examination boards outside the country must submit their admission applications directly through the systems of the respective institutions.
The Commission encourages all admission applicants to continue accessing accurate information through the TCU website, the websites of institutions approved for First Degree student admissions, and various announcements issued by TCU through the media.
CAUTION
The Commission calls upon all First Degree admission applicants to contact the respective institutions directly if they require clarification on any matter related to admission. Additionally, for general inquiries, they may contact TCU via email at [email protected].
Furthermore, the Commission warns the public to avoid being deceived by individuals posing as agents or advisors claiming to offer services on how to join higher education institutions in the country.
Bachelors Degree Admission Guide Book
The Tanzania Commission for Universities (TCU) has prepared this Bachelor’s Degree Admission Guidebook to guide prospective applicants/students, parents/guardians, sponsors and other stakeholders on the procedures and criteria for students’ admission to Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in Tanzania.
The Guidebook is further intended to provide information about institutions which offer Bachelor’s degree programmes, accredited programmes in the respective admission cycle, minimum entry requirements, programmes admission capacities, and duration of each programme. Applications for admission into Bachelor’s degrees in HEIs are directly submitted through the online admissions systems of the respective institutions.
The process is interactive in such a way that the applicant can easily and conveniently follow the instructions given by the system in the course of applying. In addition, the Guidebook has the following information:
a) Applications and admission procedures;
b) Admission eligibility requirements;
c) Admission entry schemes and pathways;
d) Approved institutions and programmes;
e) Minimum entry requirements for each programme;
f) Important dates to be followed during the application process; and
g) Quality assurance fee.
