ANNOUNCEMENT OF SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITIES AT TOP UNIVERSITIES WORLDWIDE IN THE FIELDS OF DATA SCIENCE, ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE, AND ALLIED SCIENCES FOR THE ACADEMIC YEAR 2025/2026 (SAMIA SCHOLARSHIP EXTENDED DATA SCIENCE/ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE +)

1. INTRODUCTION

i. The Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology announces scholarship opportunities for Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programs under the SAMIA SCHOLARSHIP EXTENDED DS/AI+ (SSE-DS/AI+) for the 2025/26 academic year.

ii. The SAMIA SCHOLARSHIP EXTENDED DS/AI+ program will fund outstanding students seeking to advance their careers in Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Cybersecurity, Machine Learning, and Allied Sciences.

iii. The scholarship covers 100% of costs, including:

• Tuition and university registration fees,

• Research expenses,

• Living allowance,

• Health insurance,

• Travel expenses,

• Accommodation, and

• Language training costs.

2. BACHELOR’S DEGREE SCHOLARSHIP

i. This scholarship is available to Form Six graduates whose names are listed on the official websites of:

• The Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology

• The Tanzania Commission for Science and Technology (COSTECH) (

• The Nelson Mandela African Institution of Science and Technology (NM-AIST)

ii. Eligibility Criteria:

a. Must be a Tanzanian citizen.
b. Must have excelled in the 2025 National Form Six Examinations (NECTA) in PCM, PGM, or PMC combinations.
c. Name must appear on the official lists published by the Ministry, COSTECH, or NM-AIST.

iii. Preparatory Training (Bootcamp):

• Selected candidates will undergo a 10-month preparatory training at NM-AIST in Tengeru-Arusha.

iv. Scholarship Duration:

• 3 to 5 years, depending on the program.

v. Application Process:

• Applicants and parents/guardians must fill out a special application form (attached).

3. MASTER’S DEGREE SCHOLARSHIP

i. Eligibility Criteria:
a. Must be a Tanzanian citizen.
b. Must qualify for Master’s programs in Data Science, AI, Cybersecurity, Machine Learning, or Allied Sciences at NM-AIST or IIT Madras Zanzibar.
c. Maximum age: 35 years.
d. Minimum GPA of 3.8 (or equivalent) in Bachelor’s studies.

ii. Scholarship Duration:

• Up to 2 years.

iii. Coverage Includes:

• Tuition fees,

• Living allowance,

• Health insurance,

• Research expenses (as per university guidelines),

• Registration fees.

iv. Application Process:

4. SCHOLARSHIP TERMS & CONDITIONS

Recipients of the SAMIA SCHOLARSHIP EXTENDED DS/AI+ must:

a. Sign a Scholarship Agreement with the Ministry.
b. Have a bank account for scholarship disbursements.
c. Cannot change their program without written approval from the Ministry.
d. Cannot defer studies except for health or social reasons (with verified proof).
e. Must notify in writing if withdrawing before studies begin:
