In todays latest HELSB News – Six-Month Student Loan Discount : HELSB Offers 20% Off for Full Repayment.The Higher Education Loans and Scholarships Board (HELSB) Zambia is pleased to announce the launch of a six-month Discount Campaign aimed at accelerating the repayment of matured student loans. The campaign will run from June to November 2025 and is open to all loan beneficiaries whose repayment obligations have commenced.
HELSB Introduces Limited-Time 20% Discount on Matured Student Loans
Under this initiative, beneficiaries who choose to settle their loans in full will receive a 20% discount on their outstanding loan balance. The campaign is part of HELSB’s broader effort to enhance loan recoveries, ensure the sustainability of the student loan scheme, and make higher education more accessible for future students.
“This campaign is a strategic opportunity for beneficiaries to clear their loans at a reduced cost while playing a part in financing education for the next generation,” said Dr. John Machayi, Chief Executive Officer of HELSB. “We are encouraging not only individual beneficiaries but also employers to take advantage of this limited-time offer.”

The offer is extended to both individuals and employers who may wish to settle loan balances on behalf of their employees. Terms and modalities for such arrangements can be discussed and agreed upon directly with HELSB. HELSB reiterates that loan repayments are a civic and financial responsibility. Every kwacha repaid is reinvested into the loan fund to support deserving Zambian students in need of tertiary education financing.
