NYOTA Receives Over 1 million Applications for Cycle 1 – You will recall that the kenya Government opened its application for the National Youth Opportunities Towards Advancement (NYOTA) Project, a 5-year initiative by the Government of Kenya, aimed at creating employment opportunities, bridging skills gaps, enhancing income generation, and promoting a saving culture among vulnerable youth.

The Ministry has received over one million applications for Cycle 1 of the National Youth Opportunities Towards Advancement (NYOTA) Project as application closes.

The overwhelming number of applications underscores the strong demand and enthusiasm among Kenyan youth to participate in the program.

Cabinet Secretary – Youth Affairs, Creative Economy & Sports “H.E Salim_Mvurya, EGH has welcomed World Bank’s commitment to enhance funding and extend the project period to accommodate overwhelming demand for the program.

Government has began screening and selection process,shortlisted candidates will be contacted via sms for youth who applied for business support under Cycle 1 of the National Youth Opportunities Towards Advancement (NYOTA) Project, a flagship initiative designed to empower 800,000 young people in Kenya by expanding access to entrepreneurship opportunities, skills development, and dignified livelihoods.

How is NYOTA selection done?

  • Selection is conducted through a computerized randomization process to ensure fairness and transparency.
  • Successful applicants will receive an official NYOTA SMS notification with further instructions on the next steps.
  • Unsuccessful applicants can reapply during the next call for applications if they are not selected.
