The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) Online Application for Semester 2 is now open form 14th July 2025 until 31st July 2025. Only students who register for semester 2 (Report 191) courses must apply.
The purpose of this communique is to advise Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) colleges about the REVISED opening and closing dates for the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) TVET applications for all academic cycles of the 2025 academic year. This circular cancels the previous commination contained in Circular 9 of 2024, which stated that NSFAS will not be opening 2025 TVET walk in applications in January 2025.
NSFAS TVET WALK-IN APPLICATIONS OPENING DATES FOR 2025
The opening and closing dates for 2025 NSFAS TVET applications are aligned as closely as possible to the TVET academic calendar as issued by the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET). Colleges that are participating in the Centres of Specialisation programmes, should encourage participating students to also apply during the available application windows.
Annual to open from the 13th of January 2025 and close on the 24th of January 2025.
Trimester 2 to open from the 12th of May 2025 and close on the 23rd of May 2025.
Semester 2 to open from the 14th of July 2025 and close on the 31st of July 2025.
Trimester 3 to open from the 08th of September 2025 and close on the 19th of September 2025.
It is important to note that a student should apply for the relevant academic cycle which they intend to register in.
The method of application for all 2025 remaining cycles will remain the same, meaning the students will apply for themselves online through the NSFAS website. New applicants should also be reminded to not only create a profile and consider themselves to have applied but should continue with the process of completing the application until the last step of submitting their application.
