NRF-SASOL Young Academics Accelerator Programme (YAAP) 2026 for South Africans

The NRF and SASOL invite applications for the NRF-SASOL YAAP Programme 2026.The NRF-SASOL Young Academics Accelerator Programme (YAAP) is open to South African Citizens and Permanent Residents who are employed full-time at one of the 26 public universities in South Africa, or on a fixed-term appointment that extends for the full grant period plus one additional year.

Applicants must align their research proposals with one of the following themes:

  • Environmental Sustainability (e.g. Water, Coal, Air, Waste);

  • Clean Energy Solutions (e.g. Renewable Energy, Energy Storage, Energy and Power System Modelling, Techno-economic Modelling).

  • Sustainable Fuels and Chemicals Production (e.g. CO2 Capture, DAC, Fischer-Tropsch (FT), CO2 Utilisation and Conversion).

  • Sustainable Feedstock (e.g. Green H2 Development, Biomass); and

  • Electrification of Industry Processes.


FUNDING TRACK:

PhD Track: Specifically for applicants intending to obtain a doctoral degree within the funding period.
