Nalikule College of Education 2025/2026 Generic Training Programmes In Bachelor of Education (Secondary)

GENERIC TRAINING PROGRAMMES IN BACHELOR OF EDUCATION (SECONDARY) AT NALIKULE COLLEGE OF EDUCATION IN 2025/2026 ACADEMIC YEAR

Malawi Ministry of Education (MOE) is inviting applications from suitably qualified Malawians for studies in various subject combinations in secondary teacher education for the 2025/2026 academic year at Nalikule College of Education as follows:

1) Bachelor of Education (Secondary) Generic
This is a four-year face-to-face training programme leading, on successful completion, to the award of a
Bachelor of Education degree in Natural and Applied Sciences, or Language and Communication.

1. MINIMUM ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

A) CATEGORY A: SCHOOL LEAVERS AND T2 TEACHERS WHO ARE NOT SERVING IN PUBLIC PRIMARY SCHOOLS
The eligible applicants should meet the following requirements:
i. Candidates MUST have MSCE, IGCSE, or O-Level certificate or its equivalent obtained in the past five years (2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, and 2024).
OR
Candidates with A-Level certificate or its equivalent obtained in the past five years (2020,2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024).
ii. Candidates MUST have a minimum of six credit passes on their MSCE, IGCSE, or O-Level certificate or its equivalent, including a credit pass in English or English Language.
iii. Candidates MUST have a minimum of credit passes in the two teaching subjects they are applying for.

iv. Candidates MUST not be more than 45 years of age.
v. In addition to the above minimum entry requirements, candidates MUST also meet the requirements of the individual programme they are applying for as specified for each programme.
b) CATEGORY B: T2 TEACHERS SERVING IN PUBLIC PRIMARY SCHOOLS
The eligible applicants should meet the following criteria:
1.Candidates MUST have a T2 teaching certificate.
ii. Candidates MUST have a minimum of 2 years teaching experience after obtaining their T2 teaching certificate.
iii. Candidates MUST have MSCE, IGCSE, or O-Level certificate or its equivalent with a minimum of six credit passes, including a credit pass in English or English Language.
OR
Candidates with A-Level certificate or its equivalent obtained in the past five years (2020,2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024).
Iv. Candidates MUST have a minimum of credit passes in the two teaching subjects they are applying for.
v. Candidates MUST not be more than 50 years old at the time of application.
vi. Selection does not imply automatic granting of study leave, for which serving teachers MUST apply in line with guidelines and conditions governing this leave.
Programmes offered by Nalikule College of Education (NCE)

2. TRAINING CONDITIONS

a) Successful candidates will be required to pay tuition fee of Three hundred and Fifty Thousand Malawi Kwacha (MK350, 000.00) per academic year. However, the fee is subject to revision from time to time.
b) Every successful candidate shall be responsible for payment of Student ID Processing Fee of K15,000.00, Student Affiliation Fee of K2, 000.00 per semester, and Medical Fee of K10,000.00 per academic year.
c) Ministry of Education and Nalikule College of Education will not be responsible for payment of any form of allowances or provision of any financial support to trainees during the entire period of training.
d) All candidates shall be selected as self-sponsored students. If you are successful, you shall be admitted on non-residential basis.

3. Method of Application – Nalikule College of Education 2025/2026 Generic Training Programmes In Bachelor of Education (Secondary)

a). All candidates MUST apply by filling in an admission application form sourced from this link: www.nce.ac.mw OR use the application form attached to the advert (on WhatsApp platforms).
b) Applicants should apply for only ONE Programme.
c) All candidates MUST enclose a copy of their MSCE, IGCSE, O-Level certificate or its equivalent,and a bank deposit slip of the processing fee (refer to Section 5 below) in their applications.
d) Additionally, 12 teachers serving in public primary schools MUST enclose copies of the following:
i)T2 Certificate
ii) GP1 Form; and
iii) A recommendation letter from their respective DEYS/EDM/CEO
e) Candidates Should not send their original certificates or notification of results, but photocopies.

4. PROCESSING FEE

All applicants should pay a non-refundable processing fee of Fifteen Thousand Malawi Kwacha (K15,000.00) to be deposited into the following Bank Account:

5. SUBMISSION OF ADMISSION APPLICATION FORMS

a) Applications, clearly marked Bachelor of Education Programme (Generic) on the envelope and enclosed together with a copy of the bank deposit slip and relevant supporting documents as specified in Section 4 above, should be posted or delivered by hand to the following address:

NOTE:

Former Nalikule College of Education and Domasi College of Education students who were withdrawn on academic or disciplinary grounds MUST NOT APPLY for this training.
All T2 teaching certificate holders who once served in a public school but were dismissed from work on disciplinary grounds MUST NOT APPLY for this training.
The College is implementing 50-50 policy on recruitment by gender. Therefore, female candidates are encouraged to apply as the College is striving to achieve 50-50 representation of males and females. Further, those with special needs are also encouraged to apply.

Please indicate the nature of the special need.
Any application that does not meet the requirements will be disqualified.

The College will not allow change of combinations for any student selected into its programmes.
