MINEDUC and NESA Release 2025 PLE and O’Level Results; Announce Appeals Procedure. The Rwanda Ministry of Education (MINEDUC), through the National Examination and School Inspection Authority (NESA), has officially released the results of the 2024/2025 Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE) and Ordinary Level (O’Level) National Examinations on Tuesday 19, 2025.
This year, a total of 220,927 candidates registered for PLE across 3,815 schools, with 219,926 sitting for the exams. Out of these, 166,334 candidates passed, representing an overall pass rate of 75.64%. At the Ordinary Level, 149,206 candidates registered from 1,890 schools, and 148,702 sat for the exams. Of these, 95,674 candidates successfully passed, reflecting an overall pass rate of 64.35%.
Highlighting outstanding achievements, the Ministry and NESA recognized this year’s best performers. At PLE, Arakaza Leo Victor from Wisdom School Musanze emerged top nationwide with 99.4 marks. In O’Level, Izere Henock Tresor from ES Kanombe/Efotec, Kicukiro, led with 98.67 marks.
Speaking at the publication event, the Minister of Education, Hon. Joseph Nsengimana, congratulated all candidates for their hard work and resilience, noting that “these results reflect the dedication of our learners, teachers, parents, and the entire education sector in ensuring quality learning outcomes.”
The placement process into Senior 1 and Senior 4, consider candidate scores, school capacity, and student preferences. Parents and students can access individual results online via the Student Data Management System (SDMS):
MINEDUC and NESA also reminded the public of the appeals process. Appeals on placement must be submitted within 14 days, while appeals on examination marks must be filed within 30 days via SDMS, through respective Head Teachers.
Five students who outperformed others in the national examinations for the general level of secondary schools (S3) were rewarded with laptops, payment of school fees for a period of one year, and school materials.
The rewarded students are:

Uwumuremyi Albert: 98.00% – Gasabo district
Ineza Flora Elyse: 97.89% – Gasabo district
Ndayishimiye Jean D’Amour: 97.89% – Gasabo district
Agaba Happy Jean Eudes: 97.78% – Rusizi district”
2024/2025 Appeals Process Now open

Appeals on school placement or learning pathway.
A. Appeals must be submitted within a maximum of fourteen (14) days from the date of publication of the National Examination results.
B. Students, parents, or guardians can submit an appeal online through SDMS
Appeals on marks
Appeals on examination marks must be submitted within thirty (30) days from the date of publication of the National Examination results, exclusively through SDMS by the respective Head Teachers
