Malawi Minister Wirima Warns Against Malpractice as 166 123 Candidates Sit 2025 JCE Exams – Minister of Basic and Secondary Education Malawi, Honourable Madalitso Kambauwa Wirima M.P., has asked candidates sitting for this year’s Junior Certificate of Education (JCE) examinations to exercise utmost seriousness, discipline and honesty.

Wirima, who was monitoring the exercise at Linthipe Secondary School and Nthulu Community Day Secondary School in Dedza on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, emphasised that any form of malpractice would result in severe consequences.

She strongly condemned any acts of vandalism, intimidation or harassment towards examination staff, saying such behaviour is unacceptable and will not be tolerated by her ministry.

“Be punctual, carry your examination materials and adhere to instructions. Remember integrity in examinations not only ensures your success but also shapes your character and future,” she said.

The Minister further asked examination administrators and supervisors to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, integrity and ethical conduct during the exercise.
” Be fair, firm and supportive to candidates. Ensure a smooth and credible examination process for every learner,” she said.

She added that the national exercise demands dignity, order and seriousness.
“It is our collective duty to provide a secure, fair, and peaceful environment for the learners to demonstrate their abilities,” the minister emphasised.

A total of 166,123 candidates are sitting for this year’s JCE examinations. Out of the number, 85,902 are female while 80,221 are males. The rise in female participation in the exams reflects Malawi’s commitment to ensuring equity and access to quality education for all.
