LUANAR Generic and Mature Entry Programmes 2025/2026 Undergraduate Admission -The Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources (LUANAR) City Campus is inviting applications from suitably qualified persons for admission into its undergraduate generic and mature entry programmes for the 2025/2026 academic year .

MINIMUM ENTRY REQUIREMENTS FOR ADMISSIONS
1. PRELIMINARY INFORMATION FOR INTERESTED APPLICANTSPROGRAMMEMINIMUM CRITERIA FOR

ADMISSION YEAR OF ENTRY PROGRAMME

1. Diploma in Gender and Youth Development
MSCE with six credits including English Language or its
equivalent. Alternatively 3 passes with at least C grade
at A-Level or any comparable qualification.
Candidates with prerequisite knowledge should either have MSCE with four credits or its equivalent. Alternatively 2 passes with at least grade C at A-Level or any comparable qualification.

2. Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Economics

GENERIC ENTRY
Six credit passes including English Language, Biology, Mathematics and Physical Science/Physics and
Chemistry at MSCE or any comparable O-Level
qualification.
Alternatively, three passes with at least grade ‘C’ in Biology, Mathematics and Chemistry at A-Level or any comparable qualification.

MATURE ENTRY
An MSCE certificate and a relevant University Diploma
obtained from an accredited institution of higher learning

3. Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Extension
GENERIC ENTRY
Six credit passes including English Language, Biology, Mathematics and Physical Science/Physics and
Chemistry at MSCE or any comparable O-Level
qualification.
Alternatively, three passes with at least grade ‘C’ in Biology, Mathematics and Chemistry at A-Level or any comparable qualification.
MATURE ENTRY
An MSCE certificate and a relevant University Diploma
obtained from an accredited institution of higher learning

4. Bachelor of Science in Agribusiness Management
GENERIC ENTRY
Six credit passes including English Language, Biology, Mathematics and Physical Science/Physics and
Chemistry at MSCE or any comparable O-Level
qualification.
Alternatively, three passes with at least grade ‘C’ in Biology, Mathematics and Chemistry at A-Level or any comparable qualification.
MATURE ENTRY
An MSCE certificate and a relevant University Diploma
obtained from an accredited institution of higher learning

5. Bachelor of Education Science
GENERIC ENTRY
Six credit passes including English Language, Biology, Mathematics and Physical Science/Physics and
Chemistry at MSCE or any comparable O-Level
qualification.
Alternatively, three passes with at least grade ‘C’ in Biology, Mathematics and Chemistry at A-Level or any comparable qualification.
MATURE ENTRY
An MSCE certificate and a relevant University Diploma
obtained from an accredited institution of higher learning

6. Bachelor of Science in Gender and Development
(Generic)
GENERIC ENTRY
Six credit passess including English Language, Biology, Mathematics and Chemistry at MSCE or any comparable O-Level qualification.
MATURE ENTRY
An MSCE certificate and a relevant University Diploma obtained from an accredited institution of higher learning.

7. Bachelor of Business Studies
MSCE or IGCSE ‘O’ level or its equivalent with at least six (6) credits including English and Mathematics.
Alternatively, at least three passes with grade “C” including Mathematics at A-Level or any comparable qualification.
MSCE or IGCSE ‘O’ level or its equivalent with at least four (4) credit passes including English and Mathematics. Alternatively, at least three (3) passes with grade “C” including Mathematics at A-Level or any
comparable qualification and a relevant Diploma obtained from an accredited institution of higher
learning.

8. Bachelor of Development Economics
GENERIC ENTRY
MSCE or IGCSE and its equivalent with any six credits
that includes Mathematics and English.
MATURE ENTRY
MSCE and a relevant Diploma in Economic Development related fields such as Business Studies, Extension, Rural Development, Gender and Development, obtained from
an accredited institution of higher learning

9. Bachelor of Arts in Social Work and Youth Development
MSCE certificate with at least 6 credits which must include Mathematics, English, Social and Development Studies, Life Skills and any other subject. Alternatively ‘A’ level with good pass in Mathematics, English,
Social development studies and any other subject.
MSCE and a relevant Diploma in Community Development, Social Work, or any other equivalent qualification in Youth and Social Work obtained from an accredited institution of higher learning.
MSCE and a relevant Diploma in Gender and Development; Youth and Development obtained from LUANAR.

2. OTHER RELEVANT INFORMATION

a. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS FOR ADMISSION
Candidates must meet the specific minimum entry requirement for each Faculty/programme as outlined above.

b. INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS
International students are admitted using the same criteria for Malawian candidates. Successful international candidates are required to submit police clearance reports from their countries of origin and pay USD100 processing fee for a study permit, during their
registration at LUANAR.

A complete application package must include:

i. Scanned copies of original degrees/diplomas/certificates/academic transcripts which have been indicated on the application. These must be duly certified by a Commissioner of Oaths as true copies of the originals.

ii. Proof of payment of an application fees deposit slip bearing the name of the applicant and the amount of application fee paid.

iii. Proof of English Language proficiency for international candidates whose first language is not English.
All applicants are strictly required to deposit a non-refundable application fee of K10,000.00 for Malawian and US30.00 for international applicants to
