Post: Principal Wildlife Officer, CSG ‘8’
Terms of Service: Permanent and Pensionable.
Salary Scale: Ksh. 52,330 – Ksh. 96,130 p.m.
House Allowance: Ksh. 35,000 per month.
Commuter Allowance: Ksh. 8,000 per month.
Leave Allowance: Ksh. 6,000 per year (paid once annually)

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Verifying compliance on conservation and management of wildlife resources nationwide.

  • Reviewing performance of stakeholders in the wildlife sector as per management plans.

  • Developing and implementing National Wildlife Conservation and Management Strategies.

  • Coordinating monitoring and evaluation of wildlife compensation trends.

  • Assessing the effectiveness of wildlife compensation as a conservation tool.

Requirements for Appointment:

  1. Experience:

    • Must have served as a Senior Wildlife Officer (CSG ‘9’) or equivalent for at least 3 years in the public service.

  2. Education:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in any of the following:

      • Wildlife Management

      • Environmental Science

      • Environmental Conservation & Natural Resource Management

      • Environmental Education

      • Botany, Forestry, Zoology

      • Climate Change & Development

      • Marine/Coastal Resource Management

      • Or equivalent from a recognized institution.

  3. Additional Certifications (Advantage):

    • Senior Management Course (minimum 4 weeks).

    • Computer Applications certification.

  4. Performance: Demonstrated merit in work performance.
