Salary and Benefits
All positions are permanent and pensionable. Salaries align with the existing NYS salary scale, and employees are entitled to:
- Medical Cover: SHA Scheme of Civil Servants
- Terms of Service: Permanent & Pensionable
- Training: Paramilitary training for nine months at NYS Training College (mandatory for all successful candidates)

Eligibility and General Requirements
Applicants must meet the following general criteria:
- Be a Kenyan citizen
- Age: 18 – 28 years
- Education:
- Cadets: Bachelor’s Degree + KCSE C+
- Diploma: Minimum KCSE C-
- Privates: KCSE D+ with NYS Discharge Certificate
- Possess a valid National ID and KRA PIN
- Have no criminal record
- Be medically fit
- Possess a Certificate in Computer Application Skills from a recognized institution
- Comply with Chapter Six of the Constitution
Applicants must be prepared for paramilitary training and provide professional or academic certificates where applicable.

Academic and Professional Qualifications
Specialist Officers (Cadets)
These roles require a Bachelor’s degree in relevant fields and professional registration where applicable. Examples include:
Engineering & Architecture
- Structural Engineer, Electrical Engineer, Mechanical Engineer, Civil Engineer, Water Engineer, Architect
- Must be registered as Graduate Engineers with the Engineers Registration Board of Kenya
Surveying
- Quantity Surveyor, Land Surveyor
- Registration with the Land/Quantity Surveyor’s Board is required
Finance & Accounting

- Relevant degrees with CPA K, ACCA, or CFA certifications
Supply Chain and Administration
