Call for application: IIT Madras and AARDO Fully Funded MS by Research Program 2025 for Africans. The Master of Science (MS) by Research program at IIT Madras, offered in partnership with the African-Asian Rural Development Organization (AARDO) scholarship, is designed for students pursuing research and development careers focused on rural development technology with a public policy perspective.
This fully funded program combines research with practical application through an interdisciplinary approach and a specialized curriculum. It prepares students for industry-oriented research and impactful contributions to rural development across Africa and Asia.
Program Details
- Program Name: Master of Science (MS) by Research.
- Duration: 2 years, with the possibility of a 6-month extension.
- Application Start – 22 September 2025.

Eligibility
- Citizens of AARDO Member Countries.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/ Technology with a minimum of four years duration.
- Master’s degree in appropriate Sciences or a relevant discipline for a minimum 3 + 2 years duration.
- Good working knowledge of English with a minimum CGPA of 7 out of 10 or its equivalent.
Please Note
1. Foreign nationals with an eligible degree from Indian universities will be treated on par with Indian nationals for admission.
2. Foreign students are expected to have a working knowledge of English.
3. If the medium of instruction for the qualifying degree was not English, applicants must provide proof of proficiency in English:
IELTS: minimum score of 6.5 (overall)
TOEFL: minimum score of 80 (overall)
4. Test results should be dated no earlier than
5. Foreign nationals will register as full-time scholars.
6. All applicants should have a minimum CGPA of 7.0/10.0 (or its equivalent/first class).
7. The Selection Committees may set higher evaluation criteria than the minimum eligibility requirements listed.
8. The selection, admission, and award of the MS degree will be governed by the ordinances of the Senate of IIT Madras.
