The Malawi National Examinations Board (MANEB) has made significant strides in improving accessibility and efficiency of its services through implementation of ICT Upgrading for E-Registration and E-Payment of Examination Fees reform.
The reform was aimed at addressing longstanding challenges in the registration and payment for examinations, and results dissemination processes, ensuring a more organized and accountable service delivery.
Through this reform, schools and candidates now register digitally and payments are processed through mobile money platforms such as Airtel Money, Mpamba and commercial banks among them: National Bank’s Mo626, NBS’s Easy Bank, FDH Bank and Standard Bank.
The reform has also reduced examination fees mismanagement, errors in registration details and administrative delays.
The e-Registration system also allows schools to make real-time corrections to candidate details, ensuring accuracy in names, dates of birth, and other information. In addition, examination numbers for candidates are made available on the e-Registration portals, with schools responsible for guiding students on accessing their details.
Additionally, the system enhances data stability, enabling MANEB to accurately determine the number of examination papers required for printing.
Furthermore, inefficiencies in results dissemination have been resolved. For the first time, parents and guardians accessed 2024 Primary School Leaving Certificate of Education (PSLCE), Junior Certificate of Education (JCE), and Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) results digitally by entering a candidate’s examination number and date of birth through an online portal eliminating the need for physical visits to schools to collect results.
