Honourable Ebi Ben Ololo Performs Tree Planting Excercise In Adagbabiri Community – The Bayelsa State Commissioner for Environment, Hon. Ebi Ben Ololo , today 10th October 2024, visited Adagbabiri Community in Sagbama LGA to perform a tree planting exercise organized by the Tree for Tomorrow Initiative in Collaboration with Bayelsa State Ministry Environment and Sister NGOs launching of roadside tree planting/Community sensitization campaign towards greening Bayelsa State and mitigating Climate change.
The Commissioner and his entourage on arrival, were warmly received by the Amadaowei of Adagbabiri community, HRH, Broadrick Alaowei Okee and his council of Chiefs, where the king was briefed by the Commissioner on the purpose of their visit.
The King who expressed gratitude that the exercise is starting in his Community gave his royal permission to kick-start the program, encouraging the Commissioner and his team for a well packaged follow up plan in making sure the trees are well notured .
In his welcome address, Chief B. S Okolo, Executive Director, Trees for Tomorrow initiative, said that, trees for tomorrow initiative is a Non- Governmentntal Organization that is championing the creation of awareness, motivating policy makers and community members on the need to plant trees.
Chief Okolo thanked the commissioner and the ministry of Environment for partnering with the Organization in ensuring that trees are planted in the State.
The Environment Commissioner while reacting, thanked the Governor of Bayelsa State, Distinguished Senator Douye Diri, for his enablement in ensuring the success of the exercise in Adagbabiri community and the expected extension to other towns and communities in the State.

Ololo emphasized the importance of planting trees, according to him, trees serves as catalysts to filtering the already polluted air with the potential of trapping excess carbon in circulation, resulting to heat waves and ocean rise amongst other vices.
While highlighting the health benefits connected with the Green State Policy of the Government, the Environment Boss,stated that this is the first phase of the greening plan and that the government is committed to do more to transfer a healthy environment to the younger generations as time progresses.
He therefore called on Adagbabiri community and resident’s alike to own up the project, stating that with patience and love for the environment, Bayelsans will certainly testify of the indispensable benefits of tree planting and bequeath a healthy Environment to the next generation.
Also on the entourage were the Commissioner for special duties (Bayelsa central) Hon. Michael Magbisa , Mrs. Susan Oyadougha, director of Forestry, Ministry of Environment and other Staff of Ministry.
