In todays latest HELSB News – HELSB Team Begins Sensitization Program in Luwingu District. The Higher Education Loans and Scholarships Board (HELSB) team, led by Corporate Affairs Manager Ms. Chiselwa Kawanda this morning commenced a sensitization program in Luwingu District today, 8 April 2025. The initiative began with a courtesy call to the District Education Board Secretary (DEBS), Mrs. Juanita Mulenga.
During the courtesy call, Mrs. Mulenga expressed her enthusiasm and happiness at HELSB’s visit to the district. She emphasized the significance of HELSB’s presence in Luwingu District and the province as a whole. “The presence of HELSB in our district is crucial, as it provides our pupils with access to vital information about higher education opportunities, scholarships, and student loans,” Mrs. Mulenga stated.
“This initiative will undoubtedly empower our pupils to make informed decisions about their educational and career paths, ultimately contributing to the development of our province.”
Mrs. Mulenga’s sentiments underscored the importance of HELSB’s role in bridging the gap in access to higher education, particularly in rural areas. By providing pupils with essential knowledge about available funding options and scholarship opportunities, HELSB’s sensitization program aims to increase accessibility and inclusivity in higher education.
Following the courtesy call, the HELSB team proceeded to sensitize pupils at St Don Bosco Secondary School and Luwingu Boarding School. A total of 445 pupils were engaged, and the program provided them with valuable insights into the funding options available to support their future educational pursuits.
The sensitization program is part of HELSB’s broader initiative to equip pupils with the knowledge they need to pursue higher education and create better opportunities for their future.
