The Higher Education Loans and Scholarships Board (HELSB) has announced the opening of applications for 600 Undergraduate GRZ Student Loans for the 2026 Academic Year at Levy Mwanawasa Medical University.. The loans aim to support eligible Zambian students who have been admitted to the university and meet the specified requirements. This initiative is part of HELSB’s continued effort to increase access to higher education for students from diverse backgrounds, particularly those with financial challenges.
Applications are invited from suitably qualified Zambians that meet the minimum requirements outlined here below to apply for
ELIGIBILITY
Applicants should be:
(i) Zambian with a Green National Registration Card (NRC)
(ii) School leavers admitted to Levy Mwanawasa Medical University
(iii) 26 years old or below by January, 2026
METHOD OF APPLICATION
HELSB 2026 GRZ Student Loan Applications Levy Mwanawasa Medical University Applicants should submit the following:
a) An application letter responding to the advertisement;
b) A photocopy of the 2025/2026 academic year Admission Letter from Levy Mwanawasa Medical University;
c) A photocopy of Grade 12 Statement of Results or Certificate;
d) A photocopy of the candidate’s NRC and Parent’s/Guardian’s NRC;
e) One (01) recent passport size photo;

The loans are limited and scaled down according to the level of support required. Applicants should, therefore, indicate in their application the level of loan required. However, the Higher Education Loans and Scholarships Board reserves the right to determine the actual level of the loan. Loans are awarded according to the board’s financial capacity and, therefore, admission into the university does not necessarily guarantee the applicant a GRZ student loan. Applicants are, however, advised to submit any documents that support their application.

The levels of support available for application are categorized as follows: 100%, 75%, 50% and 25%.
Please note that student allowances are payable across all levels of support. Applicants are therefore encouraged to apply for support according to level of vulnerability with necessary proof attached.
The student loan is not transferable from one University to another. Students wishing to apply for the loan should, therefore, be clear in their applications.
