HELSB News today 14th May 2025 – The Deputy Director of Finance at the Higher Education Loans and Scholarships Board (HELSB), Mr. Floyd Ndabulula, led a delegation from Malawi’s Higher Education Students Loans and Grants Board (HESLGB) on a courtesy visit to the University of Zambia (UNZA) Vice Chancellor, Professor Mundia Munya, at his office in Lusaka.
Professor Munya expressed his appreciation for HELSB’s decision to establish an office at UNZA, noting that it would greatly enhance student access to information about the Board’s services. He also welcomed the selection of UNZA as the host institution for the benchmarking exercise by the Malawian delegation.
During the visit, UNZA Deputy Vice Chancellor, Professor Boniface Namangala, shared a presentation highlighting that approximately 80 percent of undergraduate students at UNZA receive government sponsorship through HELSB. The delegation also toured some selected schools.
The Malawian delegation is in Zambia for a four-day benchmarking exercise aimed at learning about HELSB’s operations and best practices in higher education financing.
