In todays latest HELSB News – HELSB CEO Attends High-Level Workshop on UNESCO Qualifications Passport Initiative. The Chief Executive Officer of the Higher Education Loans and Scholarships Board (HELSB), Dr. John Machayi, is attending a pivotal Document Review Workshop at Ciela Resort Golf Club, focused on establishing a national roadmap for the regularisation and implementation of the UNESCO Qualifications Passport (UQP) Initiative in Zambia.

Accompanied by Ms. Tuttie Nkombo Kapalasa, HELSB’s Associate Legal Counsel, Dr. Machayi joins key national stakeholders from education, immigration, legal, and refugee support sectors to align Zambia’s legal and policy frameworks with international best practices for qualifications recognition, particularly for refugees and displaced persons.

  • Dr. Machayi is expected to deliver a critical presentation on the education funding landscape in Zambia, highlighting opportunities for supporting UQP holders through national financing instruments.
  • Ms. Kapalasa will contribute to legal discussions on aligning local laws and policies with the UNESCO framework.

Qualifications Authority
