2026 ONLINE ADMISSIONS FOR GRADE 1 AND 8 DOCUMENTS REQUIRED WHEN APPLYING
Parents and guardians must submit or upload certified and valid copies of one type of identification document.
ALLÂ the other documents listed below must also be submitted:
SA Parent ID / Passport and Child’s Birth Certificate or Passport / Refugee Permit / Asylum Seeker Permit / Permanent Residence Permit / Study Permit
Proof of Home Address
Proof of Work Address
Latest Grade 7 School Report (Grade 8 applicants only)
Clinic Card/Immunisation Report (Grade 1 applicants only)
Important information to know regarding documents:
All documents must be certified and valid.
All documents must be submitted or uploaded within 7 days of applying.
The information on the documents you upload or submit must match the information you have entered onto the Online Admissions System when applying.
Submitting or uploading fraudulent documents will result in disqualification of your application.
Reminders to submit or upload documents within 7 days will be sent via SMS to all applicants.
Applications without a valid Proof of Home Address will be considered as Incomplete.
2026 ONLINE ADMISSIONS FOR GRADE 1 AND 8 PROOF OF HOME ADDRESS
Only certified and valid copies of the following documents are accepted as Proof of Home Address when applying online:
Homeowners:
Municipal account not older than 3 months in the name of the applicant parent bearing the full residential address
Tenants / Renters:
ALLÂ the following documents (not older than 3 months):
Municipal account in the name of the landlord (homeowner) bearing the full physical residential address.
Lease agreement signed by landlord and tenant, bearing the full physical residential address.
• NB: The lease period must still be current/valid on the date that your Grade 1 and/or Grade 8 application is made online.Rental payment receipt with full physical residential address.
Statement of any account in the name of the applicant parent bearing the full physical residential address
Important information to know regarding Proof of Home Address:
• Proof of Home Address is the most important document when applying.
• Placement is confirmed on whether the school could verify the details of your Proof of Home Address.
• Proof of Home Address that applicants upload or submit should have details that match those entered by applicants on the System.
• Parents are urged to submit additional information relating to Proof of Home Address as and if requested by schools.
• Do not submit fraudulent Proof of Home Address as schools have systems to verify such documents.
• Given the rate of fraudulent Proof of Home Addresses submitted in the previous years of the Online Admissions Application, some schools resorted to visiting applicants at the home address provided to verify their addresses.
• The GDE is in support of this action as it serves to verify authenticity of addresses and prevents dishonest applicants from gaining unfair advantage, which defeats the purpose of the system being equitable for all parents.
