Domasi College of Education 2025/26 Mature Entry Training programme for Bachelor of Education

2025/2026 MATURE ENTRY TRAINING PROGRAMME FOR BACHELOR OF EDUCATION (SECONDARY) AT DOMASI COLLEGE OF EDUCATION

Malawi Ministry of Education is inviting applications from suitably qualified persons for admission into a two year or three year face-to-face mature entry degree programme for the 2025/2026 academic year at Domasi College of Education as follows:

1. ENTRY REQUIREMENTS FOR APPLICANTS
Interested applicants should meet the following minimum requirements:
a) Possess a Diploma in Education (secondary) obtained from Domasi College of Education or any other accredited institution of higher learning.
b) Alternatively, possess a diploma in relevant content subject areas plus a University Certificate of Education (UCE) or its equivalent obtained from an accredited institution of higher learning.
c) MUST provide evidence that they successfully completed a twelve (12) week Teaching Practice (TP) session as part of their Diploma in Education or UCE studies.
d) Candidates MUST also meet the additional entry requirements for each programme as outlined
below.
e) Candidates MUST have a minimum of 2 years teaching experience after obtaining their diploma (for teachers serving in public schools only).
f) Candidates MUST not be more than 50 years of age (for teachers serving in public schools only)

2. PROGRAMMES

a) Bachelor of Education (Secondary) in Natural and Applied Sciences
Applicants must have specialized in two relevant science subjects at diploma level. Subject combinations for this programme are as follows: Mathematics and Biology; Mathematics and Physics; Mathematics and Chemistry; Mathematics and Agriculture; Biology and Agriculture;
Human Ecology and Mathematics; Biology and Human Ecology; Agriculture and Human Ecology; Mathematics and Human Performance Science (Physical Education); and Biology and Human Performance Science (Physical Education). Those with Physical Science at Diploma level will be allowed to go for Physics or Chemistry combinations.
b) Bachelor of Education (Secondary) in Language, Arts and Communication
Applicants must have specialized in two relevant language subjects at diploma level. Subject
combinations for this programme are as follows: English and Linguistics and African Languages; English and French; English and Performing Arts; and English and Creative Arts.
c) Bachelor of Education (Secondary) in Social Sciences
Applicants must have specialized in two relevant Social Science subjects at diploma level. Subject combinations for this programme are as follows: Geography and Social Studies; Geography and History; History and Social Studies; History and Theology and Religious Studies; Geography and Theology and Religious Studies, Social Studies and Theology and Religious Studies.

NB: If candidates whose level of previous content coverage at diploma level will be found not to meet the requirements for entry at third level (Year 3) into the Bachelor of Education (Secondary) programme they applied for, will either be disqualified or allowed subject to their formal acceptance in writing, to enter the Bachelor of Education (Secondary) programme they applied for at second level (Year 2), depending on the College’s assessment of the candidate’s level of previous content coverage at diploma level.

3. TRAINING CONDITIONS

a) Successful candidates shall be required to pay a financial contribution of Four Hundred and Fifty Thousand Malawi Kwacha (MK450,000.00) per academic year. However, the fee is subject to revision from time to time.
b) Every successful candidate shall be responsible for payment of Student ID Processing Fee of K15, 000.00, Student Affiliation Fee of K2, 000.00 per semester, and Medical Fee of K10, 000.00 per academic year.
c) Successful candidates shall be responsible for their accommodation, meals, and research expenses.
d) Ministry of Education and the two Colleges shall not be responsible for any form of allowances to trainees.
c) Note that selection into College does not imply automatic granting of study leave. All successful teachers shall be responsible to apply for study leave to the Ministry of Education in line with the guidelines and conditions governing this leave.

4. METHOD OF APPLICATION

a) All candidates MUST apply by filling in an admission application form sourced from this
link: www.dce.ac.mw.
b) Applicants should apply for only ONE Programme.
c) Applicants should attach copies of their:
i.Diploma Certificates
ii.University Certificate of Education or its equivalent (as required in Section 1 above)
iii.Academic transcripts
iv.GPI Form (for teachers serving in public schools only)
V.Recommendation letter from their respective Education Division Managers or District Education Managers/Chief Education Officers (for teachers serving in public schools only)
vi.Bank deposit slip of the processing fee (refer to Section 5 below)
d) Do not send your original certificates, but photocopies.

5. PROCESSING FEE

All applicants should pay a non-refundable processing fee of Fifteen Thousand Malawi Kwacha (K15, 000.00) which should be deposited into the following Bank Account:

NOTE:
The College uses the above-mentioned bank account for processing applications. It does not use Airtel Money or TNM Mpamba for financial transactions. Anyone asking you to pay any of the through any other bank account or mobile money services is a fraudster and must be reported to police.

6. SUBMISSION OF ADMISSION APPLICATION FORMS

a) Applications, clearly marked Bachelor of Education Programme (Mature Entry) on the envelope and enclosed together with a copy of the bank deposit slip and relevant supporting documents as specified above, should be posted or delivered by hand to:
