Malawi Ministry of Education Domasi and Nalikule Colleges of Education Economic Fee Paying 2025/2026 Applications are open.

Ministry of Education (MoE) invites applications from suitably qualified Malawians for studies in various subject combinations in secondary teacher education for the 2025/2026 academic year either at Domasi College of Education or Nalikule College of Education follows:

Bachelor of Education (Secondary) Economic Fee Paying (EFP)

This is a four-year face-to-face training programme leading, on successful completion, to the award of a Bachelor of Education degree in Natural and Applied Sciences, Social Sciences, or Language, Arts and Communication.

1. MINIMUM ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

a) CATEGORY A: SCHOOL LEAVERS AND T2 TEACHERS WHO ARE NOT SERVING IN PUBLIC PRIMARY SCHOOLS
The eligible applicants should meet the following criteria:

i.Candidates MUST have MSCE, IGCSE, or O-Level certificate or its equivalent obtained inthe past five years (2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, and 2024).

ii.Candidates with A-Level certificate or its equivalent obtained in the past five years (2020,2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024).

iii.Candidates MUST have a minimum of six credit passes on their MSCE, IGCSE, or O-Levelcertificate or its equivalent, including a credit pass in English or English Language.

iv.Candidates MUST have a minimum of credit passes in the two teaching subjects they areapplying for.

v.Candidates MUST not be more than 45 years of age.

vi.In addition to the above minimum entry requirements, candidates MUST also meet therequirements of the individual programme they are applying for as specified for eachprogramme.

b) CATEGORY B: T2 TEACHERS SERVING IN PUBLIC PRIMARY SCHOOLS

The eligible applicants should meet the following criteria:
i.Candidates MUST have a T2 teaching certificate.

ii.Candidates MUST have a minimum of 4 years teaching experience after obtaining theirT2 teaching certificate.

iii.Candidates MUST have MSCE, IGCSE, or O-Level certificate or its equivalent with a minimum of six credit passes, including a credit pass in English or English Language.

iv.Candidates with A-Level certificate or its equivalent obtained in the past five years (2020,2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024).

v.Candidates MUST have a minimum of credit passes in the two teaching subjects they areapplying for.

vi.Candidates MUST not be more than 50 years old at the time of application.

vii.Selection does not imply automatic granting of study leave, for which serving teachersMUST apply in line with guidelines and conditions governing this leave.

2. A. PROGRAMMES OFFERED BY DOMASI COLLEGE OF EDUCATION (DCE)
1) Mathematics and Biology[MAT/BIO]
Applicants MUST have a minimum of six creditpasses, including English/English Language,Chemistry/ Physical Science, Mathematics,and Biology.
2) Mathematics and Chemistry[MAT/CHE]
Applicants MUST have a minimum of six creditpasses, including English/English Language,Chemistry and Physics /Physical Science,Biology and Mathematics.
3) Mathematics and Physics[MAT/PHY]
Applicants MUST have a minimum of six creditpasses, including English/English Language,Physics and Chemistry/Physical Science, and Mathematics.
4) Mathematics and ComputerScience [MAT/COM]
Applicants MUST have a minimum of six creditpasses, including English/English Language,Physics/Physical Science and Mathematics.Those with Computer Studies will have anadded advantage.
5) Mathematics andAgriculture [MAT/AGR]
Applicants MUST have a minimum of six creditpasses, including English/English Language,Agriculture, Mathematics, and Biology.
6) Biology and Agriculture[BIO/AGR]
Applicants MUST have a minimum of six creditpasses, including English/English Language,Mathematics, Chemistry/Physical Science,Biology, and Agriculture.
7) Mathematics and HumanEcology (Home Economics)
[MAT/HEC]
Applicants MUST have a minimum of six credit passes, including English/English Language, Mathematics, and Biology. Those with Home Economics and/or Chemistry/Physical Science
will have an added advantage.
Human PerformanceScience (PhysicalEducation) and Biology[HPS/BIO]
Applicants MUST have a minimum of six credit
passes, including English/English Language,
Mathematics, Chemistry/Physical Science and
Biology.
9) Human Ecology (HomeEconomics) and Biology
[HEC/BIO]
Applicants MUST have a minimum of six credit passes, including English/English Language, Chemistry/Physical Science, Mathematics, and Biology. Those with Home Economics will have
an added advantage.
10) Human Ecology (HomeEconomics) and Agriculture
[HEC/AGR]
Applicants MUST have a minimum of six credit passes, including English/English Language, Mathematics, Agriculture, and Biology. Those with Home Economics and/orChemistry/Physical Science will have an addedadvantage.
11) Human PerformanceScience (PhysicalEducation) and Mathematics[HPS/MAT]
Applicants MUST have a minimum of six credit passes, including English/English Language, Mathematics and Biology.

BACHELOR OF EDUCATION (SECONDARY) IN LANGUAGE, ARTS AND COMMUNICATION

1) English and Linguistics andAfrican Languages
[ENG/LAL]
Applicants MUST have a minimum of six credit passes, including English/English Language and Chichewa.

2) English and French[ENG/FRE]
Applicants MUST have a minimum of six credit passes, including English/English Language and French.

3) English and Performing Arts[ENG/PAR]
Applicants MUST have a minimum of six credit passes, including English/English Language and Mathematics.

4) English and Creative Arts[ENG/CAR]
Applicants MUST have a minimum of six credit passes, including English/English Language and Mathematics.

BACHELOR OF EDUCATION (SECONDARY) IN SOCIAL SCIENCES
1) History and Geography[HIS/GEO]
Applicants MUST have a minimum of six credit passes, including English/English Language, History, Geography and Mathematics.

2) History and Social Studies[HIS/SOS] Applicants MUST have a minimum of six credit passes, including English/English Language,
History and Social Studies/Social and Life Skills/Social and Development Studies.

3) History and Theology andReligious Studies [HIS/TRS]
Applicants MUST have a minimum of six credit passes, including English/English Language, History and Bible Knowledge/ Religious and Moral Education.

4) Geography and Theologyand Religious Studies
[GEO/TRS]
Applicants MUST have a minimum of six credit passes, including English/English Language, Mathematics, Geography and BibleKnowledge/Religious and Moral Education.

5) Geography and SocialStudies [GEO/SOS]
Applicants MUST have a minimum of six credit passes, including English/English Language, Mathematics, Geography and SocialStudies/Social and Life Skills/Social andDevelopment Studies.

6) Social Studies and Theologyand Religious Studies
[SOS/TRS]
Applicants MUST have a minimum of sixcredits, including English, Social Studies andBible Knowledge/Religious and MoralEducation.

B. PROGRAMMES OFFERED BY NALIKULE COLLEGE OF EDUCATION (NCE) BACHELOR OF EDUCATION (SECONDARY) IN NATURAL AND APPLIED SCIENCES

1) Mathematics and Biology[MAT/BIO]
Applicants MUST have a minimum of six credit passes, including English/English Language, Chemistry/ Physical Science, Mathematics,
and Biology.

2) Mathematics and Chemistry[MAT/CHE]
Applicants MUST have a minimum of six credit passes, including English/English Language, Chemistry and Physics /Physical Science,
Biology and Mathematics.

3) Mathematics and Physics[MAT/PHY]
Applicants MUST have a minimum of six credit passes, including English/English Language, Physics and Chemistry/Physical Science, and Mathematics.
4) Mathematics and ComputerScience [MAT/COM]
Applicants MUST have a minimum of six credit passes, including English/English Language, Physics/Physical Science and Mathematics.
Those with Computer Studies will have an added advantage.

5) Mathematics andAgriculture [MAT/AGR]
Applicants MUST have a minimum of six credit passes, including English/English Language, Agriculture, Mathematics, and Biology.

6) Biology and Agriculture[BIO/AGR]
Applicants MUST have a minimum of six credit passes, including English/English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry/Physical Science,
Biology, and Agriculture.

7) Mathematics and HumanEcology (Home Economics)

Applicants MUST have a minimum of six credit passes, including English/English Language, Mathematics, and Biology. Those with Home Economics and/or Chemistry/Physical Science
will have an added advantage.

Human PerformanceScience (PhysicalEducation) and Biology[HPS/BIO]
Applicants MUST have a minimum of six credit passes, including English/English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry/Physical Science and Biology.

9) Human Ecology (HomeEconomics) and Biology
[HEC/BIO]
Applicants MUST have a minimum of six credit passes, including English/English Language, Chemistry/Physical Science, Mathematics, and Biology. Those with Home Economics will have
an added advantage.

10) Human Ecology (HomeEconomics) and Agriculture
[HEC/AGR]
Applicants MUST have a minimum of six credit passes, including English/English Language, Mathematics, Agriculture, and Biology. Those with Home Economics and/orChemistry/Physical Science will have an addedadvantage.

BACHELOR OF EDUCATION (SECONDARY) IN LANGUAGE, ARTS AND COMMUNICATION
1) English and Linguistics andAfrican Languages
[ENG/LAL]
Applicants MUST have a minimum of six credit passes, including English/English Language and Chichewa.

3. TRAINING CONDITIONS
a) Successful candidates will be required to pay tuition fee of Four hundred and Fifty ThousandMalawi Kwacha (MK450, 000.00) per academic year. However, the fee is subject to revisionfrom time to time.
b) Every successful candidate shall be responsible for payment of Student ID Processing Fee ofK15, 000.00, Student Affiliation Fee of K5, 000.00 per semester, and Medical Fee of K10,000.00 per academic year.
c) Ministry of Education and the Colleges will not be responsible for payment of any form ofallowances or provision of any financial support to trainees during the entire period of training.
d) All candidates shall be selected as self-sponsored students. If you are successful, you shall beadmitted on non-residential basis.

4. METHOD OF APPLICATION
a) All candidates MUST apply using the on line application platform sourced from this link:
www.apply.ac.mw for both Domasi College of Education and Nalikule College of Education.
b) Applicants may apply to both Nalikule and Domasi Colleges of Education at differentprocessing fees and can choose a maximum of three programmes to one College during theapplication process.
c) All candidates MUST enclose a copy of their MSCE, IGCSE, O-Level certificate or its equivalent,and a bank deposit slip of the processing fee (refer to Section 5 below) in their applications.

d) Additionally, T2 teachers serving in public primary schools MUST enclose copies of thefollowing:
i) T2 Certificate
ii) GP1 Form; and
iii) A recommendation letter from their respective DEM/DEYS/EDM/CEO
e) Do not send your original certificates or notification of results, but photocopies.

5. PROCESSING FEE
All applicants should pay a non-refundable processing fee of Fifteen Thousand Malawi Kwacha(K15, 000.00). Modalities for payment of the processing fee will be found on the onlineapplication platform.
a) Closing date for receiving applications is 6th June 2025.

NOTE:

1) Former Domasi College of Education and Nalikule College of Education students who werewithdrawn on academic or disciplinary grounds MUST NOT APPLY for this training.

2) All T2 teaching certificate holders who once served in a public school but were dismissed fromwork on disciplinary grounds MUST NOT APPLY for this training.

3) The Colleges are implementing 50-50 policy on recruitment by gender. Therefore, femalecandidates are encouraged to apply as the College is striving to achieve 50-50 representation ofmales and females.

4) Any application that does not meet the requirements will be disqualified.

5) Candidates who apply for Human Performance Science (Physical Education) combinations must be medically and physically fit as the College will not allow change of combinations.
