City of Cape Town Opens 2025 Applications for Graduate Internship Programmes and Training Opportunities in Human Resources.

The City of Cape Town is inviting applications for various Graduate Internship Programmes and Training and Development Student Opportunities within the Corporate Services Directorate, Human Resources Department.

Eligibility

  • Applicants must be suitably qualified unemployed South African graduates, preferably under 35 years of age.
  • Must permanently reside within Cape Town jurisdiction.
  • Preference to graduates from universities, technical universities, colleges, and TVET colleges within Cape Town.
  • Not allowed to be enrolled for further studies during the internship period (except for
  • PhD/Doctoral or Work Integrated Learning Programmes).

Programme Types

1. Graduate Internship Programme (GIP) – Fixed Term Contract

Qualification: Completed 3-year Diploma or National Diploma from a recognized university or university of technology.

Fields include:

  • Graphic Design.
  • Data Science.
  • Digital Marketing.
  • Computer Science/Engineering.
  • Sport Science.
  • Industrial Engineering.
  • Internship can be full-time or part-time aimed at skills transfer.

2. Infrastructure Skills Development Grant (ISDG) – 3 Year Contract

Fields and Requirements:
Learnership program.

Geographic Information Systems (GIS)

  • Diploma or degree in GIS, Geomatics, Geo-informatics, Geospatial Science, Data
  • Science, or related with urban planning/land use management application.
  • Must be preparing to register with the South African Geomatics Council (SAGC).
  • Required skills: GIS software proficiency, Microsoft Office; Python skills advantageous.
  • Full-time work during office hours.

Urban Planning

  • SACPLAN-accredited Town/City & Regional Planning or Urban Planning qualification (4-year Baccalaureus degree including honours or masters).
  • Eligible for registration with SACPLAN as a professional town planner.
  • Must work full-time with no daytime class attendance.

Required skills: Microsoft Office and ArcGIS.

Additional Information

  • Stipends may range from R57.62 to R118.05 per hour.
  • There is no guarantee of employment after completion of the internship.
  • Special projects may be assigned, which could be paid or unpaid based on budget.
  • Students must not hold another job or run a private business without written permission from the City Manager during the internship.
