Bayelsa Ministry Of Environment Visits Azikoro Cemetery And Itelebu/Gbarain Waste Dump Site – Bayelsa State Commissioner for Environment, Hon. Ebi Ben Ololo , the permanent Secretary, Mr. Clinton Korubo Uncle and other top management Officials of the ministry today went on an inspection tour to the Yenagoa cemetery in Azikoro and the Itelebu/Gbarain waste dump site.

At the cemetery, the commissioner was conducted round by the management of the facility, where he noted that, flooding, overgrown bushes and irregular fumigation are the major challenges facing them. It was also reported that part of fence has collapsed, exposing the facility to encroachment.

In his reaction, the Environment Commissioner noted the challenges and promise to look into the issues in managing the facility effectively.

At the Itelebu/Gbarain dump site, he was received by Dr. Joshua Abari, Director waste management in the Bayelsa State Environmental Sanitation Authority, who led him round the dumpsite. Hon Ololo equally promised to go back to the drawing board for a proper management of the site and ensuring a safe and healthy waste disposal in Bayelsa State.
