Barau I Jibrin Foundation (BIJF) Initiative for Agricultural Revolution In North West (BIARN) – Call for Application 2025
The Barau I Jibrin Foundation (BIJF) of the Deputy President of the Senate/ First Deputy Speaker of the ECOWAS Parliament, is pleased to announce the opening of applications for its agricultural revolution program.
Tagged Barau Initiative for Agricultural Revolution in the North West (BIARN), three young farmers will be selected from each of the 186 local government areas of the seven states of the North West geopolitical zone – Kano, Kaduna, Katsina, Kebbi, Jigawa, Sokoto and Zamfara.
Each beneficiary will receive between N1m and NS million loan to invest in farming this season. This aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR’s Renewed Hope Agenda for attaining food security in the country.
BIJF is partnering with the Bank of Agriculture (BOA) to implement the program.
Barau I Jibrin Foundation (BIJF) Initiative for Agricultural Revolution In North West (BIARN) Eligibility Requirements:
To qualify for the BIARN agricultural support, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Residency & Origin:
- Must be an indigene of the seven Northwest states: Jigawa,
Kaduna, Kano, Katsina, Kebbi, Sokoto, or Zamfara. - Individuals resident in the mentioned states long enough to qualify for electoral offices.
- Must provide a Local Government Indigene Certificate or any
other. - acceptable document as proof.

Age Requirement:
Applicants must be at least 20 years old.
Educational Qualification:
- Higher qualifications such as HND, B.Sc, M.Sc, Ph.D (Preferably in Agriculture or related discipline)
- A certification of practical experience in crop production is an advantage.
- Copies of educational certificates must be attached.
Farming Experience & Land Ownership:
- Must own or have access to a farmland (provide location details).
- Should be willing to expand their farming activities.
Farm Size & Loan Interest:
Applicants must indicate the size of farmland they are applying
for:
- 1 hectare
- 2 hectares
- 3 hectares
- 4 hectares
- 5 hectares
Document Uploads (Mandatory):
Applicants must submit scanned copies of the following documents:
- Curriculum Vitae (CV)
- Birth Certificate or Age Declaration Educational Certificates
- NYSC Discharge or Exemption Letter (If applicable) Local Government Indigene Certificate
- Valid Means of Identification (National ID)
A candidate is expected to submit an undertaking letter signed by either of the following:
- A serving Governor of the candidate’s State
- serving Deputy Governor of the candidate’s State
- A serving Senator representing the candidate’s Senatorial District
- A serving member of the House of Representatives representing the candidate’s Federal Constituency
- A serving Minister from the candidate’s State
- A serving Federal Permanent Secretary from the candidate’s State
- A principal officer/member of the State House of Assembly representing the candidate’s Constituency
- A serving First Class Emir of the candidate’s locality
- Any other Authority/Collateral acceptable to the Bank of Agriculture
- Letter of Interest/Motivation (Explaining why the applicant wants to participate and how they plan to utilize the resources)
- A recent candidate passport picture
Barau I Jibrin Foundation (BIJF) Application Form Submission:
- Complete the Official BIARN Application Form.
- Ensure all sections are accurately filled before submission.
Deadline for Submission:
The online portal opens on March 7 to 21, 2025. Early applications are encouraged.
