The Teachers Service Commission has announced a major nationwide recruitment drive to address staffing gaps in public schools. A total of 9,159 positions are open for primary, junior and secondary schools after teachers left through natural attrition. The new teachers will join service on permanent and pensionable terms. This recruitment supports learning needs across the country and strengthens schools that face acute shortages.
The opportunities include 7,065 positions in primary schools, 12 in junior schools and 2,082 in secondary schools. The Commission requires applicants to be Kenyan citizens, registered with the Teachers Service Commission and holding the minimum teaching qualifications for their level. The recruitment process will follow the official Teachers Service Commission Recruitment Guidelines for the 2025/2026 financial year.
Applicants must submit their applications online through the official portal before the stated deadline. The Commission will verify academic and professional documents during the selection process. Successful applicants may be posted in any part of the country to support equitable staffing.
