Botswana National Sport Commission Recruitment 2025, Strategy, Procurement and Legal Roles Open

The Botswana National Sport Commission (BNSC) has opened applications for key leadership roles that support national sport development. These positions sit at the centre of strategy, governance and procurement for the Commission. You are encouraged to review the duties, required qualifications and competencies before submitting your application. All roles are based in Gaborone and report directly to the Chief Executive Officer. Applications close on 28 November 2025.

MANAGER STRATEGY RE-ADVERTISEMENT

  • Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer the incumbent will be responsible for the coordination, monitoring and evaluation of the BNSC strategy, annual planning, organisation performance; the management of the central project data base; manage the execution of the BNSC Strategy and reporting to the Board on quarterly basis.

Key tasks & responsibilities

  • Lead the coordination, monitoring and evaluation of the BNSC Strategy process and content, and annual planning and performance scorecard.

  • Coordinate the cascading of the corporate strategy to Departments and Ireland Sport Association (NSA).

  • Safety and manage the administration of the central project management database to ensure safe custody of all BNSC project reports.

  • Leads the research process from proposal to presentation of findings to enhance the strategic and operational effectiveness of the BNSC, to keep up to date with global best practice in sport development and administration.

  • Provides technical advice and assistance to various project and programme officers in the monitoring and evaluation of their projects/programs; senior management regarding best practice regarding sport development and administration.

  • Budgeting, reporting, monitoring, and evaluation of projects and the performance scores of the Annual Plan on a quarterly and annual basis to support the BNSC strategy.

Qualifications & Experience

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Strategy Management, Monitoring & Evaluation of equivalent.

  • Certification or professional qualifications in Botanical Scorecard.

  • Master’s Degree as an added advantage.

  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a Strategy Management environment, of which 3 shoulders are respectively level.

MANAGER PROCUREMENT OVERSIGHT: RE-ADVERTISEMENT

  • Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, the incumbent will be responsible for providing strategic and regulatory guidance to BNSC in relation to the procurement of goods and services, to ensure compliance to Public Procurement and Regulation Act (PPR) at 2021 and related procedures as well as to promote the fundamental principles of transparency, competition, efficiency, fairness and accountability in the public procurement for the achievement of best value for money in the BNSC’s expenditure.

Key tasks and responsibilities

  • Responsible for the pre-acquisition, adjudication and recommendation of an award, rejection and cancellation of any other appropriate recommendations relating to any tender within the Commission.

  • Ensure compliance to the Public Procurement Act and procurement regulations and procedures as amended from time to time for the BNSC and the NSAs. Conducts audits of select NSAs regarding procurement practices.

  • Develops and implements procurement strategy and operations of the Commission.

  • Ensures appropriate processes for service delivery, conduct market intelligence and management of supplier relationships.

  • Supplier performance: Working performance of suppliers based on price, delivery terms and quality goods and services and advise the Accounting Office, accordingly: Motions adherence to contractual agreements and service standards.

  • Provides guidance to departments and stakeholders to ensure consistent application of the Procurement Act and its regulation.

  • Facilitates the operationalization and managerial oversight of the BNSC’s procurement activities through appropriate records, systems and reports.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Degrees in Procurement, Supplies Other and Materials Management or equivalent business-related qualification, with full CIFS qualification.

  • Master’s qualification as an added advantage.

  • At least 5 years of post-qualification experience including a minimum of 3 years in a comparable supervisory level, Membership of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIFS) is required.

MANAGER LEGAL & BOARD SECRETARY

  • Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer the incumbent will be responsible for providing Legal Counsel and Board Secretarial services to the Commission and the Board, as well as management and oversight of compliance with Legal, Regulatory and Corporate Governance requirements for BNSC.

Key tasks and responsibilities

  • Develops and delivers strategic legal risk management initiatives, provides legal advice to the Board and facilitates the appointment of external solicitors/attorneys to handle cases that cannot be handled internally.

  • Providing secretarial services to the Board including scheduling of meetings, preparation of board meeting posts, compiling and detailing minutes, keeping and filing resolutions, maintaining statutory books, and communicating board decisions and resolutions ensuring that they are implemented.

  • Monitor and guide implementation of the BNSC’s corporate governance policies. Advise the Board on all governance matters and periodically review whether the Board and the BNSC’s other governance processes are fit for purpose and consider any improvements or initiatives that could strengthen the governance of the BNSC.

  • Ensure Board compliance with legal, governance and relevant regulatory frameworks. Maintain and update all legal and regulatory documents to ensure timely alignment.

  • Advise Executive Management on legal and regulatory compliance matters.

  • Continuates to the leadership of the BNSC to support the transformation to a high-performance culture and the achievement of BNSC strategic objectives, including the role of regulator of sport development and administration in Botswana.

Qualifications & Experience

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Law (LIB), Admitted to practice in the courts of Botswana as an attorney.

  • Masters in Law will be an added advantage.

  • MAST be a member in good standing with the Law Society of Botswana.

  • At least 5 years post qualification legal experience, of which at least 3 years should have been served in a corporate environment.
