The National Coffee Revival Training Programme Kenya x1500 seeks to empower grassroots community members with practical skills in coffee farming and extension services. Through a collaboration between New KPCU PLC and the Ministry of Cooperatives and MSMEs Development, 1,500 trainees will be selected to join the Kenya Coffee Extension Champions Programme, supporting the revival of coffee production across the cooperative movement.
Programme: Coffee Extension Training Programme (Ward Level Extension Champions)
Number Required: 1,500 Champions
Location: Listed Wards within the following Coffee-growing Counties (Two positions available per ward: one female and one for female applicants)

Training Details:
- Location: To be done at Kenya School Of Agriculture and designated County Training Centers.
- Content: Coffee Extension theory and basic practicals
- Cost: Training is fully sponsored. Training will be done by New KPCU Plc and the Coffee
- Research Institute.
- Duration: The training is fully sponsored. Trainees will cater for their own transport.
How Trainees Will Earn from Services
Extension Champions will levy farmers a reasonable service fee agreed upon at the ward level through cooperatives / farmers who can pay and farmers whose poor location to embrace sustainable service fees that are pocket friendly and sustainable. Community Champions are encouraged to determine additional income at cooperatives by transforming their livelihood income to refer to extension service agreements with cooperatives.
Roles After Training
- Upon successful completion, trained Extension Champions will:
- Provide private extension services to farmers in their wards.
- Train farmers on Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) to boost yields.
- Assist cooperative societies and individual farmers in effective group formation and management.
- Assist farmers in linking them to cooperatives or farmer groups.
- Assist farmers with record-keeping, crop monitoring and basic farm management.
- Assist farmers in post-harvest processing and basic farm management.
Eligibility of Applicants:
- Must be Kenyan.
- Must hold at least Diploma or Degree in Agriculture, Agribusiness, Horticulture,
- Agriculture Economics, or related fields.
- Must be a farmer or planning to own land (geo-referenced).
- Must have passion for transforming rural livelihoods through sustainable coffee farming.
- Have effective communication and numeric skills.
- Not have been previously involved in this programme.
Added Advantage:
- Previous experience in coffee farming, cooperatives, or agricultural extension
- Familiar with digital tools for data collection
- Computer/ digital literacy skills and post-harvest techniques
