Ivanplats (Pty) Ltd, a subsidiary of Ivanhoe Mines, is offering internship opportunities to qualified South African graduates who want to build their careers in the mining sector. The company operates the world-class Platreef Project in Limpopo Province, near Mokopane, known for its advanced mining technology and sustainable operations. The 2025/2027 Internship Programme gives graduates the chance to gain hands-on experience in various technical and professional disciplines while contributing to the development of one of South Africa’s most innovative mining projects.

Qualifications

The Programme will cover qualifications speciality acquiring the skills in the following disciplines, relevant to Ivanplats Mine: Minimum NQF Level 7 qualification.

Duration and Conditions:

  • The successful candidates will be enrolled in an internship programme for a maximum of 2 Years depending on the applicant performance.
  • Candidates must be prepared to work underground and on surface, in all mining operations (where applicable).
  • Must pass all the relevant medical fitness examination.

Eligibility/Required Documents

The following must be attached to all applications:

  • CV, certified copies of qualifications, Grade 12 Final results/ certificate, academic records, and a copy of the degree.
  • South African Identity document.
  • Applicants must be in a position of a Degree (Minimum NQF Level 7) from any of the South African recognized tertiary institutions.
  • Must reside around recognized mining communities.
  • Letter from the tribal Authority/ward councillor where you reside confirming your residence.

Key Result Areas/Essential Functions:

  • Participating in training and mentoring programmes as career development/ work experience.
  • Assisting in auditing and optimisation of support systems.
  • Support the TEAM with required KPIs while gaining experience.
  • Performing research within scope of learning at a supervisor’s request.
  • Ensuring compliance with the Mine Health and Safety Act (MHSA).
