Skills for Youth Employment (SkYE) Fund 2025 Training Opportunities for Gambian Youths

The International Trade Centre (ITC), through the Skills for Youth Employment (SkYE) Fund, is offering fully funded training opportunities to Gambian youth to strengthen technical and vocational skills. The program, supported by the European Union under the EU Youth Empowerment Project (Tourism and Creative Industries) and the Youth Empowerment for Demographic Dividend (YE4DD) initiative, focuses on training young people for employment and entrepreneurship in key economic sectors.

Since 2018, the SkYE Fund has trained over 2,580 youth, created more than 3,000 jobs, and supported nearly 1,000 entrepreneurs. The sixth round will train 340 youth across 10 TVET programs in tourism and creative industries.

About the SkYE Fund

The SkYE Fund is a results-based funding model established to ensure that vocational training aligns with industry demand and market opportunities. It helps young Gambians gain practical skills that improve employability and foster small business development.

Training Programs and Institutions:

  • Diploma Solar and Electrical Installation: USSET.
  • Certificate Agricultural Engineering: Sterling.
  • Diploma Arts and Crafts: Gaye Njoro Skills Academy.
  • Diploma Hairdressing and Beauty: Fajara Skills Training Center.

Duration: 9 months

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must:

  • Be Gambian citizens aged 18–35 years
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to complete the 9-month training
  • Have completed at least Grade 9 education (Grade 12 required for Agricultural Engineering and Solar Installation)
  • Complete a certificate program before applying for a diploma program
  • Apply for only one course
