University of Livingstonia September 2025 Intake | UNILIA Admissions Extended to 28 September. To accommodate those that have passed the just released Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) Examination with six credits and all those that qualify, University of Livingstonia (UNILIA) has extended the application and admission window for the September Intake to 28 September, 2025.

Qualified candidates are invited to apply to enrol into the following undergraduate degree and diploma programmes:

FACULTY AND PROGRAMMES | ENTRY REQUIREMENTS | DURATION

A. FACULTY OF EDUCATION

  1. Bachelor of Education in Science | • MSCE or its equivalent with six (6) credits including English, Mathematics, Biology, Physics, Chemistry and other subjects. 4 years
    | • Applicants with Diploma in Education (Sciences) from a recognised institution will be enrolled in 3rd year. 2 years

  2. Bachelor of Education in Humanities | – MSCE or its equivalent with six (6) credits, including English and any two of the following subjects: Geography, History, Social Development Studies, Religious Studies and Life Skills. 4 years
    | – Applicants with a Diploma in Education (Humanities) from a recognised institution will be enrolled in 3rd year. 2 years

  3. Bachelor of Education in Information and Communication Technology | – MSCE or its equivalent with six (6) credits, including English and Mathematics. 4 years
    | – Applicants with a Diploma in Education (Sciences) from a recognised institution with a major in Mathematics may be enrolled in 2nd year subject to evaluation of the transcript. 3 or 2 years

  4. Bachelor of Education in Agriculture | – MSCE or its equivalent with six (6) credits including English, Agriculture, Biology, and Mathematics and any of the following: Chemistry or Physics, Geography, and Home Economics. 4 years
    | – Applicants with MSCE, plus a Diploma in Education (Sciences) or any equivalent qualification from a recognised institution may be enrolled in 2nd Year subject to evaluation of the transcript. 3 or 2 years

  5. University Certificate of Education | – Applicants should hold a minimum of a non-educational diploma or degree from any recognized institution. 2 years
    | – Applicants should be those currently teaching in secondary schools or those interested in joining teaching at secondary level.

  6. FACULTY OF APPLIED SCIENCES

  7. Bachelor of Science in Environmental Management | • MSCE or its equivalent with six (6) credits, including English, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics. 4 years
    | • Applicants with a Diploma in Environmental Studies from a recognised institution will be enrolled in 2nd year or 3rd year subject to evaluation of the transcript. 2 or 3 years
    | • Applicants with certificates in related fields will enrol from 1st Year. 4 years

  8. Bachelor of Science in Public Health | • MSCE or its equivalent with six (6) credits, including English, Physical Science (Physics and Chemistry), Biology and Mathematics. 4 years
    | • Applicants with a Diploma or equivalent qualifications in Nursing and Midwifery (registered), Clinical Medicine, Environmental Health obtained from recognised institutions will be enrolled in 3rd year subject to evaluation of the transcript. 3 or 2 years
    | • Paramedics and those with Certificate in Clinical Medicine including Diploma in Biomedical Sciences and Nursing and Midwifery Technician Diploma from a recognised institution will be enrolled in 2nd year. Transcript will be required. 3 years
    | • Those with ABMA and BMEC Diploma in Public Health will be enrolled in 1st Year. 4 years

  9. Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering | – MSCE or its equivalent with six (6) credits, including English, Physical Science (Physics and Chemistry), and Mathematics. 4 years
    | – Applicants with a Diploma in Computer Engineering or any equivalent qualification from a recognized institution may be admitted in 2nd year subject to evaluation of the transcript. 3 or 2 years

  10. Bachelor of Science in Food Security and Nutrition | – MSCE or its equivalent with six (6) credits, including English Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Mathematics. 4 years
    | – Applicants with a Diploma in Food Security and Nutrition related courses from a recognised institution will be enrolled either in 2nd year or 3rd year, subject to evaluation of their transcripts. 2 or 3 years
    | – Those with certificates in related courses will be enrolled in 1st year. 4 Years

EXWENDENI CAMPUS PROGRAMMES – EKWENDENI

A. FACULTY OF SOCIAL SCIENCES

10. Bachelor of Social Science in Human Rights | • Applications should have an MSCE or its equivalent with six (6) credits, including English and Mathematics. 4 years
| • Applicants with an advanced Diploma in Development or Social Science related field from a recognised institution will be enrolled in 2nd year subject to evaluation of the transcript. 2 or 3 years

11. Bachelor of Social Science in Development Studies | • Applicants should have a full MSCE or its equivalent with six (6) credits, including English and Mathematics. 4 years
| • Applicants with Diploma in Development or Social Science related field from a recognised institution will be enrolled in 3rd year, subject to evaluation of the transcript. 2 or 3 years
| • Applicants with a Certificate in any Development or Social Sciences from a recognised institution will be enrolled in 2nd year subject to evaluation of the transcript. 3 years

B. FACULTY OF THEOLOGY
12. Diploma in Theology | • MSCE or its equivalent with six (6) credits including English. 2 years

13. Bachelor of Arts in Theology | • MSCE or its equivalent with six (6) credits, including English. 4 years
| • Applicants with MSCE plus Certificate in Theology will be enrolled in Second Year. 3 years

14. Bachelor of Arts in Theology (Upgrading) | • MSCE plus Diploma in Theology from a recognized institution. 2 years
| • Applicants with equivalent courses should have a minimum average of 55 points grade average or its equivalent.
| • Applicants with a Diploma in Education and a major in Theology and Religious Studies (TRS) may apply but will be required to take additional courses. 2 or 3 years

15. Bachelor of Arts in Theology and Development | • MSCE or its equivalent with six (6) credits, including English. 4 years
| • Applicants with MSCE plus a Diploma in Theology or Development Studies or Education with a major in Theology and Religious Studies and minor in Social and Development Studies from a recognised institution will be enrolled in 3rd year subject to evaluation of the transcript. 2 or 3 years
Both the Diploma and Bachelor of Arts in Theology are also offered using Open Distance and e-Learning (ODeL).

All programmes under the Faculty of Social Sciences are also offered using Weekend mode.

KANING’INA CAMPUS PROGRAMMES – MZUZU CITY CAMPUS

20. Bachelor of Business Management | • MSCE or its equivalent with six (6) credits including English and Mathematics. 4 years

21. Bachelor of Arts in Human Resource Management & Industrial Relations | • MSCE or its equivalent with six (6) credits including English. 4 years
| • Applicants with a Diploma in Human Resource Management & Industrial Relations from a recognised institution will be enrolled in 2nd year or 3rd year subject to evaluation of the transcript. 2 or 3 years
| • Applicants with certificates in relevant fields will be enrolled in 1st year. 4 years

22. Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Development Communication. | • MSCE or its equivalent with six (6) credits including English and at least a pass in Mathematics. 4 years
| • Applicants with a Diploma in Journalism or development communication from a recognised institution will be enrolled in 2nd year or 3rd year subject to evaluation of the transcript. 2 or 3 years
| • Applicants with certificates in relevant fields will be enrolled in 1st year. 4 years

A. FACULTY OF AGRISCIENCES
23. Diploma in Sustainable Agriculture | • MSCE or its equivalent with six (6) credits including English and any two science subjects. 2.5 Years

24. Diploma in Rural and Agrarian Development | • MSCE or its equivalent with six (6) credits including English and any two science subjects. 2.5 Years

25. Diploma in Agribusiness and Entrepreneurship | • MSCE or its equivalent with six (6) credits including English and any two science subjects. 2.5 Years

| • Applicants with a Diploma in any related field from a recognised institution will be enrolled in 2nd year or 3rd year subject to evaluation of the transcript. 2 or 3 years
| • Applicants with certificates in relevant fields will be enrolled in 1st year. 4 years

28. Bachelor of Science in Agribusiness and Entrepreneurship | • MSCE or its equivalent with six (6) credits including English and Mathematics and in any of the following subjects; Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Geography. 4 years
| • Applicants with a Diploma in Agribusiness or Entrepreneurship from a recognised institution will be enrolled in 2nd year or 3rd year subject to evaluation of the transcript. 2 or 3 years
| • Applicants with certificates in relevant fields will be enrolled in 1st year. 4 years
All programmes at Kaning’ina Campus are also offered using Evening and Weekend modes.

RAFIKI INSTITUTE OF CLASSICAL EDUCATION (RICE) CAMPUS

29. Diploma in Classical Primary Education | • MSCE or its equivalent with six (6) credits including English and any three of the following subjects: Geography, History, Social Development Studies, Religious Studies and Life Skills. 2.5 years

30. Bachelor of Education in Classical Primary Education | • MSCE or its equivalent with six (6) credits including English and any three of the following subjects: Geography, History, Social Development Studies, Religious Studies and Life Skills. 4 years
| • Applicants with MSCE plus a Diploma in Education from a recognised institution will be enrolled in 3rd year subject to evaluation of the transcript. 2 years

Besides filling the application form, eligible applicants for programmes offered at RICE Campus shall sit for entrance examinations for them to be registered as students. Also note that the programmes are non-residential.

Note:

  1. General:
    a. Applicants are required to provide proof of previous education. Copies of result slips, transcripts and diplomas or certificates where necessary. Submission of false information is not allowed.
    b. Applicants should pay a non-refundable application fee of MK15,000 to the bank account given under the Fees Section below.
    c. Selection of students will be instant on receipt of an application. The last day for reporting for classes is 28 September. Arriving on any day before 28 September is acceptable. Those that will not report by 28 September, shall report in the January 2026 Intake.
    d. Details of fees payment shall be communicated in admission letters.
    e. All admitted candidates shall be required to respect and abide by the Christian values as practiced by the CCAP Synod of Livingstonia.

  2. Fees Structure per Semester:

Fees for Non-science (without laboratory engagements) Diploma and Bachelor’s Degree Programmes is as follows: Malawian students shall pay MK943, 000 (residential) and MK793, 000 (non-residential). International students shall pay the equivalent of the fees in American States Dollars (US$): US$ 550.00 (residential) and US$ 462.00 (non-residential).
    b. Fees for Science (with laboratory engagements) Diploma and Bachelor’s Degree Programmes is as follows: Malawian students shall pay MK993, 000 (residential) and MK843, 000 (non-residential). International students shall pay the equivalent of the fees in American States Dollars (US$): US$ 580.00 (residential) and US$ 500.00 (non-residential).
    c. Fees for Diploma and Bachelor in Classical Education offered at Rafiki Campus are: MK694, 100 (Degree for Malawian students), US$ 475 (Degree for international students) and MK485, 000 (Diploma). Note that the programmes are non-residential. Lunch is provided for free.
    d. Fees for Theology Diploma and Bachelor’s Degree programmes is as follows: Malawian students shall pay MK798, 000 (residential) and MK648, 000 (non-residential). International students shall pay the equivalent of the fees in American States Dollars (US$): US$ 465.00 (residential) and US$ 380.00 (non-residential).
    e. Fees for UCE is MK412, 250 (non-residential) and MK512, 000 (residential) per Semester.
    f. Fees for ODeL Theology is MK399, 000. Accommodation fees per day (optional) is K2, 000.00.
    g. Fees for Weekend release and Evening classes is MK735, 000 (Non-Science Diploma and Degree programmes) and MK785, 000 (Science Diploma and Degree programmes).
    h. Weekend and Evening Programmes are offered on non-residential basis.

The University dos not use agents in recruitment of students and payment of fees (i.e. does not use Airfel Money, Mpamba, Mukuru, Hello Paisa, etc.). Beware of fraudsters!
