South Africa Department of Cooperative Governance Bursary for Disaster Management and Fire Technology Studies (2026) application now open. The Department of Cooperative Governance (DCoG) through the National Disaster Management Centre (NDMC) invites applications from qualifying students for the 2026 academic year who intend pursuing an Undergraduate/ Post-Graduate Diploma /Advance Diploma/ Masters full programme in Disaster Management or Fire Technology/ Fire Engineering qualification (excluding Certificate courses and PhD qualifications) at a recognised Public Higher Institution of South Africa.
CONDITIONS OF ELIGIBILITY
Applicants must:
Be South Africa citizens
Have applied/ been accepted/ or registered for an Undergraduate/ Post-Graduate Diploma /Advance Diploma/ Masters full programme in Disaster Management or Fire Technology/ Fire Engineering qualification at a recognised Public Higher Institution of South Africa (Certificate courses or PhD qualifications will NOT be considered for this funding).

Certified copy of a valid South Africa Identity Document
Most Recent Academic Results/ statement/ Academic transcript with a minimum average of 60%
Certified copy of Matric Certificate
Proof of application / acceptance / registration for a full programme in Disaster Management or Fire Technology / Fire Engineering qualification at a recognized Public Higher Institution of South Africa.
Master’s Students
Eligibility Criteria:
Certified copy of a valid South Africa Identity Document
Certified copy of Matric Certificate
Brief Curriculum Vitae (maximum of 2 pages)
Most Recent Academic transcript with a minimum average of 65%
Proof of application / acceptance / registration for a full programme in Disaster Management or Fire Technology / Fire Engineering qualification at a recognized Public Higher Institution of South Africa.
Master’s Research Proposal on one of the 16 Priority Thematic AreasÂ
ALLOWANCES:
The Bursary Programme will cover the following:
100%Â tuition fees, including registration
Research allowance for Master’s students only (capped at R 11 000)
