Malawi Initial Primary Teacher Education Program IPTE_20 Applications Now Open.There are a total of 10 Teacher Training colleges from which you can select your two colleges of preference.

Eligibility
- Candidates with a minimum of 4 credits including English and at least one of the following science subjects: Agriculture, Additional Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, Computer Studies, Home Economics, Mathematics, Physics, Physical Science and Science & Technology
- Candidates who failed to satisfy the minimum admission requirement but successfully improved their grades after re-sitting in a space of not more than three years may use their supplementary statements indicating years they obtained the grades.
- Candidates whose age is not more than 35 years on the day of application

Minimum Requirements
Candidates interested to join the Initial Primary Teacher Education (IPTE 20) course must:
- be holders of a Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) or its equivalent with a minimum of four credits including English and at least one of the following science subjects: Agriculture, Additional Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, Computer Studies, Home Economics, Mathematics, Physics, Physical Science and Science & Technology.
- Candidates who failed to satisfy the minimum admission requirement but successfully improved their grades after re-sitting may use their supplementary statements indicating years they obtained the grades.
- be not more than 35 years of age on the day of application.
Training Conditions
- Successful candidates will be required to pay a non-refundable financial contribution of K 75, 000.00 per term towards tuition and boarding fees when in college. However, the fees are subject to revision by Government from time to time.
- Trainee teachers will have to meet all travel expenses to and from the college and teaching practice schools during the entire two-year training period.
- Upon successful completion of the training, individuals will be awarded a Primary Teaching Certificate of Education (PTCE) by the Malawi National Examinations Board (MANEB).
- However, successful completion of the training does not warrant automatic employment by the Malawi Government.
- If you are meeting the stated entry requirements, ensure you have a soft copy of your certificate before you start your application.

- Individuals with Special Education Needs that meet the minimum entry requirements stated above are encouraged to apply.
- Any applications submitted without the necessary details will lead to automatic disqualification.

The deadline for receiving completed application forms is Tuesday, 12th August 2025.
How to Apply
- Applications are strictly online through this portal.
- Once you have submitted your application, the system will generate an invoice number for you to use when paying the application fee.
- Using the system generated invoice number, pay a non-refundable application fee of Eight Thousand Malawi Kwacha (MK8,000.00) through TNM Mpamba or Centenary Bank or FDH Bank under the NCHE Menu.

How can I pay for my application
A: Applications can be paid for using the token (invoice number) that is sent to the applicant through SMS. This token is generated once an application has been submitted. The token is unique for every application and should be presented to bank tellers or should be entered on the payment platform if using mobile or internet banking or TNM Mpamba Accepted payment channels:
