In todays latest HELSB News – HELSB Concludes Lusaka Province Sensitization Campaign in Chongwe District. The Zambia Higher Education Loans and Scholarships Board (HELSB) today concluded its province-wide sensitization campaign with outreach activities in Chongwe District. This marks the final leg of a successful educational tour covering all six districts of Lusaka Province.
In Chongwe, the HELSB team visited three secondary schools, engaging a total of 1,061 learners in Grade 12. The schools included:
- Chainda Secondary School – 398 learners
- Nkomeshya Secondary School – 176 learners
- Chinkuli Secondary School – 487 learners
The sensitization sessions provided vital information on HELSB’s core support services, which include student loans, scholarships, and the Keeping Girls in School (KGS) Grant. These products are designed to support learners, especially those from financially challenged backgrounds, in accessing tertiary education after completing Grade 12.
The sessions were interactive, with a dedicated Q\&A segment that allowed pupils to ask questions and seek clarification on the application processes and eligibility requirements. The learners responded with enthusiasm, and the engagements were marked by a strong sense of hope and motivation.
Many pupils expressed relief and inspiration upon learning that financial constraints do not have to stand in the way of their academic dreams. HELSB’s presence served as a beacon of opportunity, assuring learners that with the right information and support, pursuing higher education is within their reach.
A Province-Wide Effort
With Chongwe being the final district visited, HELSB has now successfully completed sensitization activities in all six districts of Lusaka Province, Kafue, Chilanga, Lusaka, Luangwa, Rufunsa, and Chongwe reaching over 8,000 learners in total.
Note: The sensitization campaign was led by the Manager of Corporate Affairs, Ms. Chiselwa Kawanda, together with Customer Care Associate, Mr. Stephen Chileshe, and Mr. Kaumba Mukanda.
Today’s session officially concludes HELSB’s sensitization campaign in Lusaka Province. The exercise has played a key role in equipping learners with the knowledge needed to make informed decisions about their future and has reaffirmed the Board’s commitment to equal access to higher education throughout Zambia.
