2025 BGCSE & BSSE EXAMINING PERSONNEL (MARKING AND MODERATION/PRACTICAL EXAM PERSONNEL)

Botswana Examination Council (BEC) Recruitment for 2025 BGCSE & BSSE Exam Marking and Moderation – The Botswana Examinations Council for the 2025 series will be assessing and marking the Botswana General Certificate of Secondary Education Examinations and BSSE concurrently/parallel. Therefore, applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates who wish to mark examinations scripts for the two examinations.

A.) BGCSE & BSSE EXAMINERS

Position Requirements:

i) Qualifications: A minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in Education or Bachelor’s Degree with a professional teaching qualification (PGDB) or equivalent. A Master’s Degree in Education will be an added advantage.

ii) Experience: At least two (2) years continuous teaching experience in the syllabuses. Experience in marking BGCSE national examinations will be an added advantage.

Interested applicants must have trained as Examiners in the syllabus they wish to apply for.

Competencies:

  • Demonstrated record of attainment in the subject

  • Results oriented

B.) BGCSE & BSSE MODERATORS/PRACTICAL EXAMINERS

The Botswana Examinations Council for the 2025 series will be assessing and marking the Botswana General Certificate of Secondary Education and BSSE Examinations concurrently/parallel. Therefore, applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for appointment as external moderators/practical examiners for the two examinations for the syllabus listed below.

(Only Moderators who had been appointed at Team Leader level in the past examination series are required to apply for this type of moderation)

Applicants must be practicing Teacher/Lecturers or Education Officers currently at institutions that prepare candidates for the BGCSE certificate.

Position Requirements:
i. Qualifications: A minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in Education or Bachelor’s Degree with a professional teaching qualification (PGDB) or equivalent relevant to the preferred syllabus as well as training as a Moderator/Examiner. A Master’s Degree in Education will be an added advantage.

ii. Experience: At least three (3) years continuous teaching experience at BGCSE level relevant to the preferred syllabus or at institutions that prepares students for higher qualifications. Experience in moderation/practical examination will be an added advantage.

INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO APPLY:

  • EXAMINING PERSONNEL FROM PREVIOUS EXAMINATION CYCLE (BGCSE MODERATORSAAL EXAMINERS)

  1. The applicant will be sent an SMS prompting them to apply. The message will contain a line which reads APPLY followed by an application number e.g. APPLY 12345.
    Note: The APPLICATION NUMBER is unique to your application and will be part of the SMS sent to you. If you do not receive an SMS by 30 May 2023, please contact BEC-Ecamination Personnel Unit at 3650783/ 3650786 or Apply through this link.

INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO APPLY:

For Previous Examiners (2024 BGCSE Cycle):

  1. Once you receive an SMS prompting you to apply, send “APPLY” followed by your APPLICATION NUMBER to 16688.

    • Example: APPLY 12345 → Send to 16688.

    • Note: Replace *12345* with your unique APPLICATION NUMBER from the SMS.

  2. You will receive an acknowledgement SMS confirming receipt (not an appointment).

    • To update personal details (e.g., school, banking info), use the link in the acknowledgement SMS and wait for an OTP (password).

  3. If no acknowledgement within 3 days, reapply or contact BEC at 3650783/3650786.

For New Applicants (Not Engaged in 2024):

  1. Visit https://becweb.bec.co.bw/EXAMINERS/.

  2. Click “I want to Apply” and follow instructions.
