500 Bayelsa Women Benefit from Business Grants Under Renewed Hope Initiative. Markets in Yenagoa came alive today 23rd April 2025 as 500 women engaged in petty trading received much-anticipated business top-up grants. This initiative, part of the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI), aims to enhance the economic empowerment of women traders in the region.
Dr. Mrs. Gloria Diri, the Wife of the Bayelsa State Governor and Coordinator of RHI in the state, led a dedicated team of implementers to distribute the funds at multiple locations, including Swali Ultra Modern Market, Okaka, Kpansia, and Etegwe-Okutukutu Markets within the Yenagoa metropolis.
Speaking during the distribution event, Dr. Mrs. Gloria Diri highlighted that the gesture from the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, is a crucial part of the federal government’s Economic Sustainability Strategy, specifically designed to support women in petty trading.
“To ensure that we directly impact those who need it most, we decided on an on-the-spot distribution of 50,000 Naira to each beneficiary,” Dr. Mrs. Diri stated. This direct approach is aimed at empowering women and facilitating immediate improvements in their business operations.
The beneficiaries expressed overwhelming gratitude for the support received, emphasizing that this financial boost is set to significantly enhance their business prospects. Many jubilant recipients shared stories of how the grant will enable them to replenish their stocks and expand their trading activities.
This initiative is a testament to the unwavering commitment of the Bayelsa State government and the federal administration to fostering economic resilience among women traders, thereby contributing to the overall economic development of the state.
