2025 Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) Examination Results Released – How to Check. The Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education in conjunction with MANEB has released the 2025 Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) examination results.
- To access the results, schools should visit their e-Registration Portal
- Candidates or their parents and guardians can access individual results onnthe portal
Candidates are awarded a Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) if they satisfy either of the following conditions:
a) Obtain a pass in six (6) subjects including English, with a credit pass in at least one of them.
Or
b) Obtain a pass in five (5) subjects including English, with a credit pass in at least three (3) of them.

Out of the 194,584 candidates that sat for this examination, 113,708 have passed. This represents 58.44% pass rate.
Out of the 100,909 male candidates that sat for this examination, 63,367 have passed. This represents 62.80% pass rate.
Out the 93,675 female candidates that sat for this examination, 50,341 have passed. This represents a 53.74% pass rate.
Out of the 116,685 internal candidates that sat for this examination, 73,245 have passed. This represents 62.77% pass rate.
Out of the 23,206 external candidates that sat for this examination, 10,365 have passed. This represents 44.67% pass rate.
Out of the 54,693 ODL candidates that sat for this examination, 30,098 have passed. This represents 55.03% pass rate.
Out of the 932 Special Needs Education (SNE) candidates that sat for this examination, 532 have passed. This represents 57.08% pass rate.
Out of the 420 male SNE candidates that sat for this examination, 260 have passed. This represents 61.90% pass rate.
Out of the 512 female SNE candidates that sat for this examination, 272 have passed. This represents 53.13% pass rate.
Out of the 2,821 candidates that sat for this examination at National secondary schools, 2,732 have passed. This represents 96.85% pass rate.
Out of the 6,122 candidates that sat for this examination at District Boarding secondary schools, 5,619 have passed. This represents 91.78% pass rate.
Out of the 4,905 candidates that sat for this examination at City Day secondary schools, 3,960 have passed. This represents 80.73% pass rate.
Out of the 3,468 candidates that sat for this examination at District Day secondary schools, 2,480 have passed. This represents 71.51% pass rate.
Out of the 53,571 candidates that sat for this examination at Community Day secondary schools, 28,877 have passed. This represents 53.90% pass rate.
Out of the 46,232 candidates that sat for this examination at Private secondary schools, 29,738 have passed. This represents 64.32% pass rate.
The performance of Education Divisions, based on the percentage of candidates with distinctions, in descending order is: North (6.78%), Central East (5.43%), Central West (5.33%), South East (5.17%), Shire Highlands (4.84%) and South West (4.46%).
The top ten (10) education districts, based on the percentage of candidates with distinctions, in descending order are: Dedza (9.38%), Karonga (9.24%) Mzuzu City (7.50%), Mzimba South (6.86%), Chitipa (6.77%), Zomba Urban (6.65%), Chiradzulu (6.20%), Nkhatabay (6.07%), Dowa (6.01%) and Balaka (6.01%).
The bottom ten (10) education districts, based on the percentage of candidates with distinctions, in ascending order are: Thyolo (2.83%), Mwanza (2.90%), Nsanje (3.15%), Machinga (3.59%), Neno (3.66%), Nichisi (3.76%), Chikhwawa (4.08%), Lilongwe City (4.14%), Likoma (4.25%), and Zomba Rural (4.44%).
The top ten (10) schools based on the percentage of candidates with distinctions in descending order are: Mtendere (Dedza, 53.82%), Loyola Jesuit (Kasungu, 53.10%), Marist (Pvt) (Dedza, 45.98%), Likulezi Catholic Boys (Phalombe, 45.83%), St Kizito Seminary (Dedza, 43.75%), Ludzi Girls (Mchinji, 43.73%), Dedza (Dedza, 42.52%), Lilongwe Islamic (Lilongwe West, 39.05%), Marymount Catholic Girls (Mzuzu City, 37.86%) and St John Bosco Secondary (Mzimba South, 36.75%).
The bottom ten (10) schools, where no candidate obtained distinctions and are therefore ranked based on pass rate, in ascending order are: Dzukani (Pvt) (Machinga, 0.00%), H&C (Pvt) (Blantyre Urban, 0.00%), Chiunda Community (Mangochi, 0.00%), Tsogolo (Pvt) (Balaka, 0.00%), Hillside (Pvt) (Chiradzulu, 9.09%), Namikombe Community (Balaka, 9.09%), Namwanje Community (Blantyre Rural, 9.38%), Dziwe Community (Blantyre Rural, 12.50%), Love of God (Pvt) (Blantyre Urban, 14.29%) and Joy (Pvt) (Mangochi, 15.38%).

The bottom ten (10) subjects based on percentage of distinctions in ascending order are: Biology (0.48%), Chichewa (0.51%), English (0.53%), Clothing & Textiles (0.85%), Physics (1.50%), Woodwork (1.56%), History (1.83%), Social & Life Skills (2.01%), Metalwork (3.35%) and Home Economics (3.75%).
ACCESSING EXAMINATION RESULTS
Examination centres and candidates will access their results online. Examination centres will be able to access results through their e-Registration Portal. The results will be available in downloadable PDF documents for the schools. Individual candidates or their parent/guardian will be able to access results on the MANEB Examination Results Portal available on. To ensure security, a candidate’s results will be retrieved using the correct examination number and date of birth.
All candidates wishing to query their 2025 MSCE results should do so in writing through the heads of schools where they registered for the examinations.
All queries should reach MANEB by 6th October, 2025. After this date no further queries will be entertained.
All candidates wishing to re-mark their MSCE results should collect and fill forms from their respective schools. The remark fee for 2025 MSCE results is K45,000 Kwacha per subject.
